''Ali Velshi on Target'' (formerly ''Real Money with Ali Velshi'') was a daily thirty-minute program on Al Jazeera America hosted by Ali Velshi that focuses on current affairs which provides context and analysis around current political and economic issues along with interviews. The show was shot and produced in New York City and originally shared studio space with ''Consider This (TV series), Consider This'', another Al Jazeera America show. ''Real Money'' aired at 10:30pm eastern time Monday through Friday with repeats overnight and on weekends. The show featured guest appearances by Suze Orman among others. In Velshi's absence the show's substitute host is David Shuster. The show's producer is head of business news John Meehan. The show also was done from occasion on location with Velshi typically at economic conventions and other places. Ali Velshi (born October 29, 1968 or 1969) is a Canadian television journalist, a senior economic and business correspondent for NBC News since October 2016. He was also substitute anchor for '' Top Story with Tom Llamas'' on NBC News Now at weeknights and ''The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell'' on MSNBC at Friday night. Velshi is based in New York City. Known for his work on CNN, he was CNN's Chief Business Correspondent, anchor of CNN's '' Your Money'' and a co-host of CNN International's weekday business show ''World Business Today''. In 2013, he joined Al Jazeera America, a channel that launched in August of that year. He hosted ''Ali Velshi on Target'' until Al Jazeera America ceased operations on April 12, 2016. Al Jazeera America was an American pay television news channel owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network. The channel was launched on August 20, 2013, to compete with CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Fox News, and in certain markets RT America. It was Al Jazeera's second entry into the U.S. television market, after the launch of beIN Sports in 2012. The channel, which had persistently low ratings, announced in January 2016 that it would close on April 12, 2016, citing the "economic landscape". David Shuster
David Martin Shuster (born July 22, 1967) is an American television journalist and talk radio host. He most recently served as principal anchor and managing editor for i24 News, previously serving as an anchor for MSNBC and worked for Fox News, CNN, Current TV, The Young Turks and Al Jazeera America. Shuster's career at MSNBC included anchoring prime time breaking news coverage of the death of Michael Jackson, the passage in Congress of historic health care reform, and the deadly earthquake in Haiti. He was suspended from MSNBC in April 2010 after secretly auditioning for a new CNN show. The Newseum was an American museum dedicated to news and journalism that promoted free expression and the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, while tracing the evolution of communication.
