Alfred Wróbel
Alfred Wróbel (29 November 1927 – 24 September 1993) was a Polish ice hockey player. He played for Górnik Katowice and GKS Katowice during his career. He also played for the Polish national team at the 1952 and 1956 Winter Olympics. Two of his brothers, Adolf and Antoni Antoni is a Catalan, Polish, and Slovene given name and a surname used in the eastern part of Spain, Poland and Slovenia. Górnik Katowice
GKS Katowice is a professional ice hockey team in Katowice, Poland. The team was founded in 1964. GKS Katowice won six Polska Liga Hokejowa titles between 1958 and 1970. From 2017 to 2019 the name of the club was changed to Tauron KH GKS Katowice, due to sponsorship by Tauron Group. The club finished the regular season 2021-2022 in 1st place and won the playoffs by defeating Zagłębie Sosnowiec, GKS Tychy and Unia Oświęcim. GKS Katowice (; GKS stands for , "Miners Sporting Club") is a Polish football club based in Katowice, Poland. The club currently plays in the I liga, after having won promotion in 2021. History In 1963 in Katowice a special organizational committee was called with the purpose of uniting all the clubs and sporting organizations of the city into one large club which would encompass many disciplines. The Poland national men's ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of Poland, and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. The 1956 Winter Olympics, officially known as the VII Olympic Winter Games ( it, VII Giochi Olimpici invernali) and commonly known as Cortina d'Ampezzo 1956 ( lld, Anpezo 1956 or ), was a multi-sport event held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, from 26 January to 5 February 1956. Cortina, which had originally been awarded the 1944 Winter Olympics, beat out Montreal, Colorado Springs and Lake Placid for the right to host the 1956 Games.
