Alfred Berglund (Minnesota Politician)
Alfred Berglund Sr. (December 17, 1871 – November 20, 1962) was an American farmer and politician. Early life Alfred Berglund was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on December 17, 1871, the son of John Berglund (1834-1904) and Anna Marie Persdotter (1831-1934). Both his mother and father were immigrants from Sweden and had come from the village of Torpshammar. Alfred attended Albert Lea Country School until graduation, when he started working as a farmer in the city. Marriage and family Berglund married for the first time on June 14, 1898 in Isanti, Minnesota to Sadie Christine Olund (1873-1942). Together, they had the following children. *Olive Eleanor A. Albert Lea, Minnesota
Albert Lea is a city in Freeborn County, in southern Minnesota. It is the county seat. Its population was 18,492 at the 2020 census. The city is at the junction of Interstates 35 and 90, about south of the Twin Cities. It is on the shores of Fountain Lake, Pickerel Lake, Albert Lea Lake, Goose Lake, School Lake, and Lake Chapeau. Fountain Lake and Albert Lea Lake are part of the Shell Rock River flowage. The city's early growth was based on agriculture, farming support services and manufacturing, and it was a significant rail center. At one time it was the site of Cargill's headquarters. Other manufacturing included Edwards Manufacturing (barn equipment), Scotsman Ice Machines, Streater Store fixtures, and Universal Milking Machines. Youngtown is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 7,056, up from 6,156 in 2010. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. History In 1954, two developers bought of farmland and built the United States' first planned community dedicated exclusively to retirees. Designed by Ben Schleifer, the community was ironically named Youngtown. In 1996, the town, citing its age restrictions, denied extending the stay of a 16-year-old child to live in the community. In response, Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods investigated and determined that the age ordinance was unenforceable. In response, Youngtown repealed the age restrictions in 1999.
