Alexander Steinitz
Alexander Steinitz (born 17 January 1967) is an Austrian conductor and since 2018 first Kapellmeister of the Theatre of West Pomerania. Life Born in Salzburg, Steinitz received his first music lessons at the Carl Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. After his secondary school years in Vienna, he studied conducting with Karl Österreicher and Leopold Hager, music theory with Diether de la Motte and composition with Kurt Schwertsik. After graduating, he completed a year abroad at Yale University on the basis of a sponsorship award from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education and the Arts, where he perfected his conducting studies with Günther Herbig, Eleazar de Carvalho and Lawrence Leighton Smith. Kapellmeister
(, also , ) from German ''Kapelle'' (chapel) and ''Meister'' (master)'','' literally "master of the chapel choir" designates the leader of an ensemble of musicians. Originally used to refer to somebody in charge of music in a chapel, the term has evolved considerably in its meaning and is today used for denoting the leader of a musical ensemble, often smaller ones used for TV, radio, and theatres. Historical usage In German-speaking countries during the approximate period 1500–1800, the word often designated the director of music for a monarch or nobleman. Vienna Chamber Orchestra
The Vienna Chamber Orchestra (Wiener Kammer Orchester, or WKO) is an Austrian chamber orchestra based at the Vienna Konzerthaus. History The WKO was founded in 1946, and its first artistic directors were Franz Litschauer, Heinrich Hollreiser, Paul Angerer, and Carlo Zecchi. When he took over the position from 1976 to 1991, Philippe Entremont started a tradition of conductors playing a dual rôle, appearing as both conductor and soloist. Entremont has continued as the Orchestra's lifetime honorary conductor, leading it on tour and in its matinée subscription series at the Konzerthaus. In addition, the WKO has continued to invite dual-role artists, including Yehudi Menuhin, Heinz Holliger, Heinrich Schiff, and Ola Rudner. Gera is a city in the German state of Thuringia. Youri Vámos
Youri Vámos was born in Budapest. He trained in ballet from a young age at the State Ballet School in Budapest. He was a soloist at the Hungarian State Opera and then later accepted a contract as a first soloist at the Bavarian State Opera. After his career as a dancer Vámos began to focus on choreography and teaching. He served as ballet director in Dortmund, Bonn, and Basel. His choreography focuses on full length ballets that he revises for modern audiences. For such he has been called “the last ballet narrator” by Petr Zuska, the Artistic Director of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague. He has used traditional stories like Sleeping Beauty and the Nutcracker as the basis for modern ballets. For example, his production of the Nutcracker uses the Tchaikovsky score, but changes the story to tell of Charles Dickens' tale of Scrooge, combining the two beloved Christmas stories into one ballet.
