Alex Wood (baseball)
Robert Alexander Wood (born January 12, 1991), nicknamed "A-Wood", is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has played for the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cincinnati Reds. Before playing professional baseball, Wood played for his high school team at Ardrey Kell High School, and college baseball for the Georgia Bulldogs. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2009. The Braves selected Wood in the second round of the 2012 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut during the 2013 season for the Braves, and was an All-Star with the Dodgers in 2017. He won the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers. Early life Wood was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended Ardrey Kell High School, where he played for the school's baseball team. Alex Wood (born 1950, Dundee) is a former Labour leader of Edinburgh City Council in Scotland. Biography He was educated at Paisley Grammar School, the New University of Ulster, Moray House College of Education, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Stirling and the University of Strathclyde. He was a member of the Labour Party from 1969 until 1987. He was a member of the National Committee of the Labour Party Young Socialists from 1973 to 1975. In the early 1970s Wood was a leading figure in the entryist Militant tendency in Scotland who left that party after it decided to support the creation of a devolved Scottish Assembly. Subsequently, he became a trenchant critic of Militant. He subsequently became a leading figure in the Labour Co-ordinating Committee in Scotland and wrote its pamphlet on Labour and Ireland. Alexander Mann Jerome Wood (January 10, 1909 – April 4, 1979) was a professional ice hockey goaltender who played in one National Hockey League game for the New York Americans during the 1936–37 season, on January 31, 1937 against the Montreal Canadiens. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1930 to 1945, was spent in various minor leagues. Wood was born in Falkirk, Scotland, but grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. Alex Wood (American Football)
Alexander Von Wood (born March 14, 1955) is an American football coach. He is the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at University of Delaware, a position he has held since 2018. Wood served as the head football coach at James Madison University from 1995 to 1998 and Florida A&M University from 2015 to 2017. He won two national championships as an assistant coach at the University of Miami in 1989 and 1991. Wood played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1975 to 1977 as a running back and special teams player. He graduated from Iowa in 1979 with a degree in secondary education and social studies. He also began his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater in 1978. Alex Wood (1871 – May 1937) was an Anglican bishop in India from 1919 to 1937. He was born in 1871, educated at Aberdeen University and Edinburgh Theological College and ordained in 1895. His first post was a curacy at St John's Forfar. He was at the Scottish Episcopalian Mission at Chanda from 1898 to 1919, a period of service interrupted by World War I service as a temporary Chaplain to the Forces.
