Alexander Rosenberg
Alexander Rosenberg (who generally publishes as "Alex") is an American philosopher and novelist. He is the R. Taylor Cole Professor of Philosophy at Duke University, well known for contributions to philosophy of biology and philosophy of economics. Rosenberg describes himself as a "naturalist". Education and career Rosenberg graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1963 (along with Bruce Bueno de Mesquita and Richard Axel) and from the City College of New York in 1967. He received his Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University in 1971. He has taught philosophy at Dalhousie University, Syracuse University, University of California, Riverside, University of Georgia and, since 2000, at Duke University. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Minnesota, the University of California, Santa Cruz, Oxford University, the Australian National University and Bristol University. "Axel F" is the electronic instrumental theme from the 1984 film ''Beverly Hills Cop'' performed by Harold Faltermeyer. It was an international number one hit in 1985. Background The title comes from the main character's name in the film, Axel Foley (played by Eddie Murphy). It is composed in the key of F minor. Faltermeyer recorded the song using five instruments: a Roland Jupiter-8 provided the distinctive "supersaw" lead, a Moog modular synthesizer 15 provided the bass, a Roland JX-3P provided chord stab brasses, a Yamaha DX7 was used for the marimba sound, and a LinnDrum was used for drum programming. According to Faltermeyer, the initial reaction to his premiere presentation of the cues to the film's producers and director did not result in an immediate approval; it was not until director Martin Brest voiced his approval that the producers showed enthusiasm. Alex Rosenberg ( he, אלכס רוזנברג; born September 20, 1991) is an American-Israeli former basketball player who last played for Hapoel Afula B.C., Hapoel Afula of the Liga Leumit (basketball), Liga Leumit. He played college basketball for Columbia Lions men's basketball, Columbia University. High school and college career Rosenberg attended Millburn High School in Millburn, New Jersey, where he was a three-year letterwinner, and two-time first team all-area. Alex is fourth on the all-time scoring list for Millburn High School. Rosenberg went on to play one year of postgraduate year, postgrad basketball at The Peddie School after high school. There, he averaged 14.0 ppg. Rosenberg played college basketball for Columbia University's Columbia Lions men's basketball, Lions.
