Alex McIntosh (footballer)
Alexander McIntosh (14 April 1916 – December 1965) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward in the Football League for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Birmingham City and Coventry City. Career McIntosh moved into league football with Wolverhampton Wanderers from non-league club Folkestone Town in 1937. He made his league debut on 23 October 1937 in a 2-1 win at Leeds United and became a first choice player the following season, which featured a run through to the FA Cup Final, where they lost to underdogs Portsmouth at Wembley. After the suspension of league football in September 1939 due to the outbreak of the Second World War, McIntosh still turned out for Wolves in wartime fixtures, and was part of their 1942 War Cup victory. By the resumption of the Football League, he was no longer part of manager Ted Vizard's plans and played just four more times before joining Midlands neighbours Birmingham City in 1947. Alex McIntosh (1936-2008) was a Scottish international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career World Championships At the 1972 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Worthing McIntosh won a silver medal in the fours and a gold medal in the team event (Leonard Trophy). Eight years later he won two more medals when winning silver in the fours and a bronze in the team event at the 1980 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Melbourne. Commonwealth Games McIntosh won three Commonwealth Games medals; a silver in the 1970 Fours, gold medal in the 1974 Pairs and silver in the 1978 Pairs. McIntosh was the standard bearer at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. National McIntosh began bowling in 1955 and won his first international cap in 1962. His indoor club was Midlothian and outdoor club was Newbattle. He earned a total of 54 caps. Alex McIntosh (politician)
Alexander Joseph McIntosh (March 19, 1934 – September 4, 2023) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Yarmouth in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1984 to 1988. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia. McIntosh was born in Glace Bay in 1934. He entered provincial politics in the 1984 election, defeating Liberal incumbent Fraser Mooney by 645 votes in the Yarmouth riding. McIntosh did not seek re-election in 1988. In the 1998 election, McIntosh ran again in Yarmouth, but was defeated by New Democrat John Deveau. He finished second in the race, ahead of Liberal incumbent Richie Hubbard Walter "Richard" Hubbard (June 8, 1932 – May 3, 2011) was a political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada.
