Alex McDonald (prospector)
Alexander "Big Alex" McDonald (1859–1909) was a Canadian gold prospector who made (and lost) a fortune in the Klondike Gold Rush, earning himself the title "King of the Klondike". Biography The son of Scottish immigrants, McDonald was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He was an unsuccessful prospector, having tried his luck in the Colorado gold fields, before heading to the gold rush in Juneau, Alaska, in the late 1880s. Alexander McDonald (June 28, 1866 – April 20, 1936) was an American politician and businessman. Born in the town of Manchester, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, McDonald received his bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University in 1889. He was a farmer, real estate developer, bank director, and in the canning industry. McDonald was the town clerk and the supervisor of assessment for Green Lake County. He lived in Markesan, Wisconsin. Alex McDonald (footballer, Born 1878)
Alexander McDonald (12 April 1878 – 22 October 1949) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside-forward for various clubs in the 1900s. Football career McDonald was born in Greenock, Scotland, but started his professional career with Jarrow in north eastern England. From Jarrow, he joined Everton of the Football League First Division in February 1900, making his first-team debut in a 0–0 draw against Blackburn Rovers on 31 March. After a year at Goodison Park during which he made 23 appearances with six goals, McDonald moved to the south coast to join the Southern League champions, Southampton in May 1901. He made his debut for the "Saints" in the opening match of the 1901–02 season, a 1–1 draw with New Brompton. McDonald scored in the following match, a 2–1 victory at Northampton Town and followed this with four goals in a 5–0 victory over Watford on 21 September 1901. Alex McDonald (rugby Union)
Alexander McDonald (23 April 1883 – 4 May 1967) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A loose forward, McDonald represented at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, between 1905 and 1913. He played 41 matches for the All Blacks including 14 as captain. McDonald played in eight internationals, including the famous "'' Match of the Century''" against Wales. He went on to coach both the Otago and provincial teams, and was a North Island, South Island and national selector. He co-managed the All Blacks on their 1938 tour of Australia, and was assistant manager for the 1949 South African tour. USS ''Bache'', Bethlehem Staten Island first Fletcher-class destroyer built in 1942 Bethlehem Staten Island also called Bethlehem Mariners Harbor was a large shipyard in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, New York. The shipyard started building ships for World War II in January 1941 under the Emergency Shipbuilding Program and as the result of the Two-Ocean Navy Act of July 1940. The shipyard was part of the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation which built ships for the United States Navy, and the United States Maritime Commission. Bethlehem Steel purchased the shipyard in June 1938 from United Shipyards. Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation closed the shipyard in 1959. Alexander MacDonald (born 17 March 1948 in Glasgow) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager. MacDonald played for St Johnstone, Rangers and Hearts. He also played in one full international match for Scotland, in 1976. Towards the end of his playing career, MacDonald became player/manager of Hearts. He led the team as they won promotion in 1983, then narrowly missed out on winning the Scottish league championship in 1986. MacDonald then managed Airdrieonians for most of the 1990s, leading the team to Scottish Cup finals in 1992 and 1995. Alexander MacDonald (born 14 April 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for Gillingham. His previous clubs include Burnley, Falkirk, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Plymouth Argyle, Burton Albion, Oxford United and Mansfield Town.
