Alex Høgh Andersen
Alex Høgh Andersen (born May 20, 1994) is a Danish actor, model and photographer. He is mostly known for the role of Ivar the Boneless in the historical drama television series ''Vikings'' (2016–2020). Personal life Andersen was born on 20 May 1994 in Denmark to parents Thomas Andersen (father), and Charlotte Høgh (mother). Alex was born and raised in the small town of Skælskør in the western part of Sjælland in Denmark, Andersen discovered his love of acting while studying drama at school. He participated in many musical oriented plays and was fortunate to gain a lot of experience with many big roles. Like his peers, he began auditioning for film roles. At age 17, Andersen realised the difference between live performances and acting in front of a camera. Ivar The Boneless
Ivar the Boneless ( non, Ívarr hinn Beinlausi ; died c. 873), also known as Ivar Ragnarsson, was a Viking leader who invaded England and Ireland. According to the ''Tale of Ragnar Lodbrok'', he was the son of Ragnar Loðbrok and his wife Aslaug, as his brothers Björn Ironside, Hvitserk, Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye and Ubba, however, this is not sure to be historically accurate. Ivar is probably the same person as Ímar, a Viking king of Dublin between 870-873. The origin of the nickname is not certain. "Ívarr beinlausi" could be translated to "Ivar legless", but "beinlausi" could also be translated as "boneless", since "bone" and "leg" translates to the same word, "bein", in Old Norse. Several of the sagas describe him as lacking legs/bones or having a skeletal condition such as osteogenesis imperfecta, while a passage in ''Ragnarssona þáttr'' (also known as the tale of Ragnar's sons) suggest it refers to male impotence. Slagelse
Slagelse () is a town on Zealand, Denmark. The town is the seat of Slagelse Municipality, and is the biggest town of the municipality. It is located 15 km east of Korsør, 16 km north-east of Skælskør, 33 km south-east of Kalundborg and 14 km west of Sorø. History Slagelse has been inhabited since at least the Viking Age, where it was a Pagan site. Trelleborg, a ring castle, was built near the current location of Slagelse in 980, which made the location strategically important. A church was built at Slagelse's current location in the 1000s.
