Alexandros Goulandris
Alexandros J. "Aleko" Goulandris (1927 – 25 May 2017) was a Greek shipowner, the son of Nicholas J. Goulandris, the founder of N. J. Goulandris. In 1952, his father left the family firm, Goulandris Bros., and founded N. J. Goulandris in London. It grew with the help of his sons Yannis/John (b.1923) and twins Leonidas (b.1927) and Alexandros, and by 1958 was the sixth-largest Greek shipowner with 40 ships. The business is now known as Andriaki Shipping and is based in Marousi, Athens. He married Marietta, and they had three daughters, Violanto (who pre-deceased him), Maria-Lula and Alexandra. In 1994 they restored the Tourlitis Lighthouse in Andros in memory of Violanto. Aleko Konstantinov ( bg, Алеко Константинов) (1 January 1863 – 11 May 1897) ( NS: 13 January 1863 – 23 May 1897) was a Bulgarian writer, best known for his character Bay Ganyo, one of the most popular characters in Bulgarian fiction. Life and career Born to an affluent trader in the Danube River town of Svishtov, he attended the Faculty of Law of Odessa University (formerly the Imperial Novorossiya University), graduating in 1885. He worked as a lawyer in Sofia before embarking on a career as a writer. His first novel, organized as a collection of short stories, ''Bay Ganyo'' (translating to uncle Ganyo), describes the travels of an itinerant peddler of rose oil and rugs through Western Europe. Though impertinent and clumsy, Bay Ganyo proves to be ingenious and is considered by some scholars to be a mirror for a modernizing Bulgaria. Aleko Axel August Eugen Lilius (2 April189024June 1977) was an explorer, businessman, diplomat, writer, journalist, and photographer of Finnish, Swedish, and Russian extraction. He has been described as an English journalist, a Russian Finn, an American of Finnish origin, a Swedish journalist and adventurer, and an intrepid American journalist. Aleko Prodani (1942–2006) was an Albanian actor and Merited Artist of Albania. Born in Korçë, southern Albania, in 1942, Prodani became one of the most acclaimed actors of the Andon Zako Çajupi Theatre. Alexandros Schinas
Alexandros Schinas ( el, Αλέξανδρος Σχινάς, c. 1870 – 6 May 1913), also known as Aleko Schinas, assassinated King George I of Greece in 1913. Schinas has been variously portrayed as either an anarchist with political motivations (propaganda by deed), or a madman, but the historical record is inconclusive. Schinas described himself as a socialist. The details of the assassination itself are known: On 18 March 1913, several months after capturing Thessaloniki from the Ottoman Empire during the First Balkan War, King George I was out for a late afternoon walk in the city and, as was his custom, lightly guarded. Encountering George on the street near the White Tower, Schinas shot the king once in the back from close range with a revolver, killing him. Schinas was arrested and tortured. Aleko Yordan (Alekos Iordanou) ( el, Αλέκος Ιορδάνου; 10 January 1938 – 21 September 2019) was a Turkish professional footballer who played as a center back and a later manager. Club career Yordan from a very young age he showed his talent and played football in Prasina Poulia, where he was noticed by Kleanthis Maropoulos, who also played in the Messinian team.
