Alejandro Moya
Alejandro Moya (born 1969), commonly nicknamed Iskander, is one of the merging figures of the contemporary independent Cuban cinema. Director and scriptwriter of series for Cuban television, Moya directed his first feature film entitled ''Mañana'' (''Tomorrow'') in 2006, casting Rafael E. Hernández, Enrique Molina, Hugo Reyes, Violeta Rodriguez and Adria Santana. ''Mañana'' (''Tomorrow'') has been presented by the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Arts and Cinematographic Industry) which registered it as a competition movie in the 2006 Festival of the New Latin American Cinema of Havana. Cuban Cinema
Cinema arrived in Cuba at the beginning of the 20th century. Before the Cuban Revolution of 1959, about 80 full-length films were produced in Cuba. Most of these films were melodramas. Following the revolution, Cuba entered what is considered the "Golden age" of Cuban cinema. Early stages After being popularised by the brothers Louis Jean and Auguste Marie Lumière, the cinematographe traveled through several capital cities in different American countries before arriving in Havana, which occurred on January 24, 1897. It was brought from Mexico by Gabriel Veyre. The first presentation was offered at Paseo del Prado #126, just aside the Teatro Tacón. Four short films were shown: ''Partida de cartas'', ''El tren'', ''El regador y el muchacho'' y ''El sombrero cómico''. Adria Santana (29 August 1948 – 30 September 2011) was a Cuban actress best known for her work in the theater. Silvio Rodríguez Domínguez (born 29 November 1946) is a Cuban musician, and leader of the Nueva Trova movement.
