Alec O'Leary
Alec O'Leary (M.Mus., B.Mus., Dip. Inst. Teaching) is the director and founder of the Guitar Festival of Ireland and is widely regarded as one of the foremost guitarists of his generation. He has spent many years studying guitar with John Feeley at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin, and has had tuition from many distinguished players, such as Manuel Barreuco, Roland Dyens, Scott Tennant, Sergio Assad, Elena Papandreou and Fabio Zannon. O'Leary plays regularly both as a soloist and in ensemble and has performed many times on both national radio and television. He plays guitars made for him by renowned Irish luthier Michael J. O'Leary. Debut album Alec released his debut album ''Milonga'' in the Summer of 2008, on GFI Masters Records. Carlow
Carlow ( ; ) is the county town of County Carlow, in the south-east of Ireland, from Dublin. At the 2016 census, it had a combined urban and rural population of 24,272. The River Barrow flows through the town and forms the historic boundary between counties Laois and Carlow. However, the Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898 included the town entirely in County Carlow. The settlement of Carlow is thousands of years old and pre-dates written Irish history. Jorge Cardoso ull name: Jorge Ruben Cardoso Krieger(born 26 January 1949) is a classical guitarist, composer, researcher, medical doctor ( National University of Cordoba, Argentina) and teacher (Madrid Royal Conservatory). He has performed in Europe, America, Asia and Africa, and has frequently participated in international festivals, conferences, seminars, radio and television. Life Cardoso was born in Posadas, Misiones, Argentina, and studied the guitar with Lucas Braulio Areco and Luis J. Cassinelli. Having gained a scholarship from the National Fund for the Arts in Argentina, he was able to study with Maria Hermini A. de Gomez Crespo. Jorge Scibona (9 May 1931 – 10 February 2021), known professionally as Jorge Morel, was a classical guitarist and composer from Argentina. Biography Morel was born in Buenos Aires. His father taught him the rudiments of classical guitar from age seven. He went on to study advanced guitar at the internationally renowned academy of Pablo Escobar in Buenos Aires, and after graduating, joined Escobar in radio and concert performances. Jorge Morel died in Orlando, Florida, United States of America. Morel left Argentina to perform in Ecuador, Colombia and Cuba, where he recorded his first solo LP and was featured in a weekly TV show. Vladimir Bobri, then President of the Classical Guitar Society in New York, lent his recognition and support to Morel after hearing him perform in Puerto Rico. Antonio Lauro (August 3, 1917 – April 18, 1986) was a Venezuelan musician, considered to be one of the foremost South American composers for the guitar in the 20th century. Biography Antonio Lauro was born in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela. His father Antonio Lauro Ventura, an Italian immigrant, was a barber who could sing and play the guitar so he taught his son what he could, but died when Antonio was still a child. After the family moved to Caracas, Lauro pursued formal musical study (piano, composition) at the ''Academia de Música y Declamación'', where the composer Vicente Emilio Sojo (1887–1974) was one of his teachers. A luthier ( ; AmE also ) is a craftsperson who builds or repairs string instruments that have a neck and a sound box. The word "luthier" is originally French and comes from the French word for lute.
