Wetaskiwin
Wetaskiwin ( ) is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada. The city is located south of the provincial capital of Edmonton. The city name comes from the Cree word ''wītaskiwinihk'', meaning "the hills where peace was made". Saville Community Sports Centre
The Saville Community Sports Centre is a sports facility run by the University of Alberta's Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, where it is located in Edmonton, Alberta. It features a curling rink, tennis courts and a gymnasium. Opened in 2003, the centre currently serves as the national training centre for curling in Canada. Stettler, Alberta
Stettler is a town in east-central Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by the County of Stettler No. 6. The town is nicknamed "The Heart of Alberta". History Stettler was founded in 1905 and was named after Swiss immigrant Carl Stettler, who also founded a settlement east of the town at Blumenau, as well as being influential in the nearby community of Castor. The Glencoe Club
The Glencoe Club is a private sports and social club located in southwest Calgary, Alberta, Canada founded in 1931. Its facilities include two swimming pools, six badminton courts, ten bowling lanes, eight curling sheets, a skating rink, seven squash courts, six indoor tennis courts, and a fitness facility. Etymology The area the club was founded on was called the Glencoe Subdivision. The subdivision was named after the Glencoe valley, in Scotland. History The club was founded in 1931 when the Calgary Skating Club decided to handover all assets to the newly formed Glencoe. The official inauguration took place on March 21, 1931. Rachelle Brown
Rachel "Rachelle" Brown (born July 9, 1986 as Rachel Pidherny) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. Career Born in Smithers, British Columbia, Brown moved to Edmonton c. 2006. As a university curler, she represented the University of Alberta at four CIS/CCA Curling Championships. Brown first represented her new province at the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, playing lead for Team Alberta, skipped by Tom Appelman. The team had a less than successful tournament, going 3–8, but Brown had the best percentage among leads in the tournament, and was named to the First All-Star team. Brown played for a number of skips before joining the Sweeting rink in 2011. She played with Joanne Delanoy from 2008 to 2009, Diane Foster and Casey Scheidegger from 2009 to 2010 and for Bobbie Sauder and Dana Ferguson from 2010 to 2011. Dana Ferguson
Dana Ferguson (born February 25, 1987 in St. Albert, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. She currently plays second on Team Kelsey Rocque. Career Ferguson was a member of the University of Alberta team that lost in the tie-breaker game of the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships. She played third for the team, which was skipped by Jessica Mair. Also that season, Ferguson played third for Brenda Doroshuk's women's rink which went 0–3 at the 2010 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In 2011, Ferguson made the transition to the skip position after her new skip, Bobbie Sauder took some time off to have a baby. Sarah Wilkes (born August 4, 1990 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from London, Ontario. She won the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts with Team Chelsea Carey and is currently the second for Team Rachel Homan. Career Juniors As a junior curler, Wilkes played third for the 2011 Ontario Junior Women's Championship team skipped by Clancy Grandy. The team represented Ontario at the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they finished with a 5–7 record. In University curling, Wilkes played third for the Wilfrid Laurier University women's curling team. She played in the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships on a team skipped by Danielle Inglis, losing in the semi-final. Chelsea Danielle Carey (born September 12, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is the 2016 and 2019 Canadian and Alberta women's champion skip and 2014 Manitoba provincial women's champion skip. Career Earlier career Carey curled in six provincial junior championships, but did not win the event. She did win the 2000 Juvenile Provincial championship which she followed up with a silver medal at the 2001 Canadian Juvenile championship. She was also the Manitoba high school provincial champion in 2002. Okotoks (, originally ) is a town in the Calgary Region of Alberta, Canada. It is on the Sheep River, approximately south of Calgary. Okotoks has emerged as a bedroom community of Calgary. According to the 2016 Census, the town has a population of 28,881, making it the largest town in Alberta. The 2020 Sentinel Storage Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Alberta, was held January 22–26 at The Murray Arena in Okotoks, Alberta. The winning Laura Walker rink represented Alberta at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and finished with a 3–4 record. Laura Walker won her first Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts and capped of an undefeated tournament by defeating Kelsey Rocque's rink 7–4 in the final. Rocque made the final in 2019 as well, falling to eventual Canadian champion Chelsea Carey.
