Bertie Hill
Albert "Bertie" Edwin Hill (7 February 1927 – 5 August 2005) was a British equestrian who competed at three Olympic Games. After serving in the Home Guard during the Second World War, Hill became an amateur jockey in point-to-point racing. He went on to represent Britain in three-day eventing, winning a gold medal at the 1956 games in Stockholm along with a host of other international trophies. Albert Ross Hill
Albert Ross Hill (October 4, 1868 – May 6, 1943) was a Canadian-born American educator and ninth president of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He was also Commissioner of the European Division of the American Red Cross (1921–1923). Biography Born in rural Colchester County, Nova Scotia, Hill held degrees from Dalhousie University and Cornell University and for a short time taught at the University of Nebraska. He was married to Agnes Baxter, also a graduate of Dalhousie and Cornell. At the age of 38 years he was one of the youngest Presidents ever of the University of Missouri. During his time as president (1908–1921) the world's first Journalism school, the Missouri School of Journalism was established. The School of Commerce and the Department of Economics were also established during this time. Albert Hill (athlete)
Albert George Hill (24 March 1889 – 8 January 1969) was a British track and field athlete. He competed at the 1920 Olympics and won gold medals in the 800 m and 1500 m and a silver medal in the 3000 m team race. Biography Hill started out as a long-distance runner, winning the British AAA championships over 4 miles in 1910. During World War I he served with the Royal Flying Corps in France, and after the war changed to middle-distance running. Coached by Sam Mussabini (coach of 100 m Olympic Champions Reggie Walker and Harold Abrahams), he won the 880 yd and 1 mile at the 1919 AAA championships and then equalled the British record of 4:16.8 for 1 mile. He nearly was not selected for the Olympics the following year, the selectors considering the 31-year-old Hill too old. Finally, he was allowed to take part at the Olympics, which were held in Antwerp, Belgium. He made the final in the 800m, which was a closely contested race. Albert Hill VC (24 May 1895 – 17 February 1971) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Early life Born in Hulme, Manchester, one of ten children, he was a weak and frail child who after his schooling started work in a mill, before becoming an apprentice planker at Wilson Hat Manufacturers, in Wilton Street, Denton (Manchester). First World War In August 1914 he joined the 10th Battalion, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, as a private. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions at Delville Wood, part of the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Albert Barnett "Buster" Hill (August 12, 1896 – October 13, 1969) was a college football player. Early years Albert Barnett Hill was born on August 12, 1896, in Washington, Georgia, to William Meriwether Hill and Susan Montgomery Stokes. He attended Washington High. Georgia Tech Hill entered the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1913. He was a prominent player for John Heisman's Georgia Tech Golden Tornado football teams. Hill was elected to the Georgia Tech Athletics Hall of Fame in 1966. 1917 Hill was the quarterback for Georgia Tech's first national championship team in 1917, which outscored opponents 491 to 17.
