Albanian Opera
The Albanian opera includes the art of opera in Albania and opera in the Albanian language. History The opera began being performed as a musical genre in Albania in the second half of the 20th century. The first Albanian opera was Mrika by Prenkë Jakova, which was put on stage in 1958 at the Migjeni Theatre in Shkoder, Albania, and, a year later, at the venue of the University of Arts (Albania), Academy of Arts of Tirana. Other operas that followed were ''The Spring'' by Tish Daija, ''The Flower of Memory'' by Kristo Kono, and ''The Heroines'' by Vangjo Nova. Later operas include ''Skënderbeu'' () by Prenkë Jakova, ''Bijtë e Skënderbeut'' () by , ''Komisari'' () by Nikolla Zoraqi, ''Zgjimi'' () by Tonin Harapi, and ''Toka e jonë'' (), by Pjetër Gaci. Opera
Opera is a form of theatre in which music is a fundamental component and dramatic roles are taken by singers. Such a "work" (the literal translation of the Italian word "opera") is typically a collaboration between a composer and a librettist and incorporates a number of the performing arts, such as acting, scenery, costume, and sometimes dance or ballet. Kristo Kono
Kristo Kono (17 July 1907 – 22 January 1991) was an Albanian composer and recipient of the People's Artist title in 1961, the highest artistic recognition title during the communist era. He was one of the early contributors to Albanian music and opera who spent all his life in their service; one of the symbols of the cultural traditions of his hometown of Korçë, same as other musicians as Tefta Tashko-Koço, Jorgjia Truja, and Kristaq Antoniu; and one of the main personalities of the early generation of Albanian composers together with Nikolla Zoraqi, Tish Daija, Tonin Harapi, and Feim Ibrahimi. Qëndrim Rijani
Qëndrim Rijani is an Albanian Theatre director, director of theatre, film and opera. He has directed many plays, Albanian and foreign, that were performed in many different countries in Europe and that have been honored with many awards in various festivals. His plays are characterised by his direct and rough style. He is also the director of the first Albanian opera in North Macedonia. Rauf Dhomi (Albanian: ''Rauf Domi'') (born 4 December 1945) is a Kosovan classical music composer and conductor and a teacher at the University of Pristina. Dhomi is the author of many operas, requiems, masses, cantatas, symphonic music, film scores and theater music. Early life and education Dhomi was born in Gjakova, Yugoslavia – in present-day Kosovo. He attended to school in Prizren and studied composing and conducting in Sarajevo. National Theatre Of Kosovo
The National Theatre of Kosovo ( sq, Teatri Kombëtar; sr, Narodno pozorište, script=Latn / ) was founded in 1946 in the city of Prizren, Kosovo. It is the highest ranked theatre institution in the country, with the largest number of productions. The National Theatre is the only public theatre in Kosovo and therefore it is financed by Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. Pjetër Gaci
Pjetër Gaci (; 27 March 193127 March 1995) was an Albanian musician, composer and music teacher. He participated numerous times in Festivali i Këngës as composer and lyricist, winning 2 first prizes in 1966 and 1972. Life and career Gaci was born in Shirq, a village near Shkodër, but grew up in Shirokë. His father was a known rhapsodist, so from a young age Gaci learned to play multiple instruments, among them guitar, violin, mandolin and accordion. After finishing elementary school in Shkodër, he studied violin at the Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum in Tirana from 1948 to 1952. He would continue higher studies in Russia, at Moscow Conservatory from 1953 to 1956. After returning to Albania he worked as a violin teacher at the Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum in Tirana. Tish Daija
Tish Daija (Shkodër, 30 January 1926 – 3 October 2003) was an Albanian composer. He composed the first Albanian ballet ''Halili dhe Hajria'' (Halili and Hajria) that premiered on 13 January 1963 and has since been shown more than 250 times at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Albania, a record for the Albanian Theatre. He has also composed ''Spring'' (" Pranvera"), an Albanian opera. Tish Daija is an alumnus of the Moscow Conservatory. The University of Arts ( sq, Universiteti i Arteve), formerly known as the Academy of Arts ( sq, Akademia e Arteve) is a public university and the main institution that offers higher education of the arts in Albania. History Founded in 1966 as the ''Higher Institute of Arts'' ( sq, Instituti i Lartë i Arteve), it merged three artistic institutions: the Tirana State Conservatory, the Higher School of Fine Arts, and the High School for Actors “Aleksander Moisiu”.
