Alan Harris (playwright)
Alan Harris is a Welsh playwright. Career Has written plays for theatres throughout the United Kingdom, including Paines Plough and National Theatre Wales. He won a Judges’ Award at the 2015 Bruntwood Prize for his play ''How My Light is Spent'' at the Royal Exchange, Manchester. He also wrote ''The Opportunity of Efficiency'', the first international collaboration for National Theatre Wales with the New National Theatre Tokyo. The play was staged at the New National Theatre Tokyo's The Pit stage in 2013 and was directed by NTW artistic director John McGrath. In 2011 he set up liveartshow, a company specialising in new theatre with music with director Martin Constantine and composer Harry Blake. The company staged ''Manga Sister'', a contemporary dance opera, at The Yard, London and the same venue staged a re-telling of '' Rhinegold'' by the same company in 2012. Allan Harris (born April 4, 1956) is a jazz vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter from Harlem, New York. Described as having a "formidable baritone with … husky edges and deep resonant low notes", and Harris has been called a protean talent. Harris is known for both his albums and his live performances. His album ''Convergence'' a collaboration with pianist Takana Miryamoto was critically praised, and his album ''Cross That River'' (2006) was widely covered for its perspective on issues of ethnicity in the American western expansion. Alan Harris (illustrator)
Alan John Harris (born 10 April 1957) is a British bird illustrator. Life Harris was born in Epping, Essex. As a teenager, he became active in bird ringing, and in 1978 he became a member of Rye Meads bird ringing group. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Middlesex Polytechnic in 1980, he began his career as a freelance bird illustrator. In 1982 he was elected Bird Artist of the Year by bird journal '' British Birds''. Since 1988 he has been a member of the artistic staff of this magazine. In 1989 he was a jury member of the competition Bird Artist of the Year. For his illustrations Harris undertook numerous field studies, which led him chiefly to the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Allan Harris
Allan Harris (28 December 1942 – 23 November 2017) was a footballer who played for Chelsea, Coventry City and Queens Park Rangers. His brother Ron was also a professional footballer. Harris was a full-back and began his career with Chelsea, for whom he played 70 league games in his first stint with the club. He joined Coventry in 1964, spending two years there, before briefly returning to Chelsea again, where he played in their 1967 FA Cup final loss to Tottenham Hotspur. He moved to Queens Park Rangers as a replacement for Jim Langley in 1967, and made his debut in August that year against Portsmouth. Harris was a member of the 1967–68 side that won promotion to the First Division for the first time in the club's history. He played 94 league games for QPR before transferring to Plymouth Argyle in 1971, and later played for Cambridge United. Sir Alan James Harris CBE (8 July 1916 – 26 December 2000) was a British civil and structural engineer. Early life and education Harris was born in 1916 in Plymouth, and started working at the age of 16 taking evening classes in engineering at Northampton Engineering College now City, University of London. Career From 1940 to 1946 Harris served with the Royal Engineers as an officer in a Port Construction and Repair Company, landing at Port-en-Bessin in Normandy on D-Day + 1. He was officer in command of diving on Mulberry B at Arromanches, working from a small fleet of French fishing boats, as a result of which he was awarded the Croix de Guerre. He later joined the Royal Engineers in the Territorial Army where he attained the rank of Colonel. Alanson Harris
Alanson Harris (April 1, 1816 – October 3, 1894) was a Canadian businessman. He was a sawmill operator and later owner of a farm implement manufacturer in Brantford, Ontario. Alanson Harris was born in Ingersoll, Ontario in 1816 to John Harris (native of Mohawk Valley in New York State) and Catherine Jane Dygert. Alanson Harris began his career as a manufacturer. After moving to Brantford, Ontario in the 1870s he formed A. Harris, Son and Company Limited to manufacture farm implements. Harris plant was located on Market Street South and later moved to Colborne Street. His son John Harris was instrumental in growing the nascent company and the firm merged with rival Hart Massey's company Massey Manufacturing in 1891 to form Massey-Harris, which later became the farm machinery giant Massey Ferguson.
