State Route 88 (SR 88) is a state highway completely within the city limits of Enterprise, in Coffee County. The western terminus of the highway is at an intersection with U.S. Route 84 north of town. The eastern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 167/ SR 192 in the southeastern part of town. SR 88 heads through downtown Enterprise before following Plaza Drive. Route description SR 88 begins at an intersection with US 84/ SR 12/ SR 192 on the northern edge of Enterprise. North of here, the road becomes a part of US 84/SR 12. Fort Rucker
Fort Rucker is a U.S. Army post located primarily in Dale County, Alabama, United States. It was named for a Civil War officer, Confederate General Edmund Rucker. The post is the primary flight training installation for U.S. Army Aviators and is home to the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) and the United States Army Aviation Museum. Small sections of the post also lie in Coffee, Geneva, and Houston counties. Part of the Dale County section of the base is a census-designated place; its population was 4,636 at the 2010 census. The main post has entrances from three bordering cities, Daleville, Ozark and Enterprise. In the years before the September 11, 2001 attacks, the main post (except airfields and other restricted areas) was an open post with unmanned gates allowing civilians to drive through. The Boll Weevil Monument in downtown Enterprise, Alabama, United States is a prominent landmark and tribute erected by the citizens of Enterprise in 1919 to show their appreciation to an insect, the boll weevil, for its profound influence on the area's agriculture and economy. Hailing the beetle as a "herald of prosperity," it stands as the world's first monument built to honor an agricultural pest. The Monument consists of a statue of a woman holding a pedestal with a boll weevil perched on top. State Route 134 (SR 134) is an east-west state route located in Covington, Coffee, Dale, Henry, and Houston counties in Alabama. It loosely parallels U.S. Route 84 (US 84) between Opp and the Chattahoochee River. Route description The route begins at US 331/US 84 along the Opp Bypass. It heads east into southern Coffee County, intersecting SR 189 and SR 87 en route to Enterprise. Wiregrass Central Railroad
The Wiregrass Central Railroad is a shortline railroad operating of track from a CSX Transportation connection at Waterford, near Newton, to Enterprise, Alabama via the south side of Fort Rucker. The company was initially a subsidiary of Gulf and Ohio Railways and began operations in 1987 following the purchase of the Enterprise Subdivision branch line of CSX Transportation. Industrial customers include Pilgrim's Pride, Wayne Farms, and the Sessions Company. Primary commodities include peanuts, peanut oil, corn, soy, and grass seed, generating approximately 8,200 annual carloads in 2008. In April 2011, the Wiregrass Central was named as one of the three railroads being acquired by RailAmerica from Gulf and Ohio for $12.7 million following employee votes to unionize. Enterprise is a city in the southeastern part of Coffee County and the southwestern part of Dale County in Southeastern Alabama, United States. Its population was 28,711 at the 2020 census. Enterprise is the primary city of the Enterprise micropolitan statistical area (with the portion of the city in Dale County part of the Ozark micropolitan statistical area).
