State Route 107 (SR 107) is a State highway (US), state highway in the western part of the U.S. state of Alabama. The southern terminus of the route is at an Intersection (road), intersection with Alabama State Route 18, SR 18 approximately northwest of Fayette, Alabama, Fayette. The highway reaches its northern terminus approximately south of Guin, Alabama, Guin at an intersection with Alabama State Route 118, SR 118. Route description SR 107 is aligned on a two-lane road as it travels through Fayette County, Alabama, Fayette and Marion County, Alabama, Marion counties. It is a parallel route to U.S. Route 43 in Alabama, U.S. Route 43 (US 43), aligned west of the U.S. Highway. The route serves to connect the towns at its southern and northern termini and does not pass through any incorporated cities or towns. Fayette is a city and the county seat of Fayette County, Alabama, United States. The population was 4,619 at the 2010 census, down from 4,922 at the 2000 census. History Originally known as "La Fayette", it incorporated on January 15, 1821. When Fayette County was created in 1824, the town's name was officially changed to "Fayette Court House", though it was also known as "Fayetteville", which was the name shown on maps and on the U.S. Census in 1880 and 1890. It was officially shortened to "Fayette" in 1898. In 1928, Victor and Lucy Patterson began manufacturing Golden Eagle Syrup in Fayette. The syrup is still produced locally in a manufacturing facility in downtown Fayette. Geography Fayette is located in west-central Fayette County at (33.692068, -87.832358). State Route 18 (SR 18) is a state highway in northwest Alabama. Route description SR 18 begins at the Mississippi state line near Vernon. In Vernon, it junctions with SR 17. It continues on its curvy route east, then southeast to the Fayette County line. It then junctions with SR 107. It turns south and junctions with SR 96 west. It then junctions with US 43 north and SR 171. It continues southeast with US 43 south. It makes an unusual curve south in Stough. It turns east again and junctions with SR 13. SR 13 continues north independently and continues south with US 43 at this junction. It does not maintain a concurrency past this point. History Prior to the completion of sections of Interstate 22 (I-22), SR 118 served only as the unsigned partner route of U.S. Route 278 (US 278) between the Mississippi state line, west-southwest of Sulligent, and Guin. As new sections of I-22 have opened, US 78 has been rerouted onto the new Interstate highway, and the old sections of US 78 have been designated as SR 118, thus extending the highway eastward by nearly .
