The Mall of Qatar is a shopping mall that opened in December 2016 in the Rawdat Al Jahhaniya district of Al Rayyan, Qatar. History In December 2013, the engineering company Drake & Scull Qatar was awarded the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in the Mall of Qatar. The cost for the construction of the mall was initially set around $660 million, but was increased to $1.48 billion in October 2015 after new hospitality and entertainment projects were added along the way. Deals were signed with Abu Issa Holding to bring retail luxury goods among its offering, with M.H. Alshaya Co. to bring lifestyle and hospitality brands to the mall., with IMAX for the cineplex, and with the Majid Al Futtaim Group to add a Carrefour hypermarket to the mall. Al Rayyan (; also spelled as ''Ar Rayyan'') is the third-largest municipality in the state of Qatar. Its primary settlement is the city of the same name, which occupies the entire eastern section and largely surrounds Metropolitan Doha and functions as a suburb. Rawdat Al Jahhaniya ( ar, روضة الجهانية, Rawḑat al Jahānīyah) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Rayyan. It is accessible through Dukhan Highway by road and Al Riffa station by rail. The district is one of the areas in Qatar which allows freehold ownership by foreigners. It is bordered to the east by Al Seej, Al Themaid, and Rawdat Egdaim, to the north by Jeryan Al Saham, to the west and north-west by Jery Al Dabi, and to the south by Umm Al Jawashen.
