Al-Wehda Sports & Cultural Club ( ar, نادي الوحدة الرياضي و الثقافي صنعاء) is a Yemeni football club based in Sana'a. Founded in 1954, Al-Wahda (which means "unity" in Arabic), is one of the most successful and famous clubs in Yemen, having won the Yemeni League four times since 1990. Altawra Sports City Stadium ( ar, مدينة الثورة الرياضية), also known as the Ali Mohsen al-Muraisi Stadium ( ar, ملعب علي محسن المريسي), is a multi-purpose stadium in San‘a’, Yemen. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 30,000 people and was opened in 1986. It is currently the home ground of the Yemen national football team. During the Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen at the Yemen War, the stadium was destroyed by a Saudi Arabian's air strike. In 2016, the stadium suffered bomb damage again. Sanaa ( ar, صَنْعَاء, ' , Yemeni Arabic: ; Old South Arabian: 𐩮𐩬𐩲𐩥 ''Ṣnʿw''), also spelled Sana'a or Sana, is the capital and largest city in Yemen and the centre of Sanaa Governorate. Yemeni League
Yemeni League is the top football division of the Yemen Football Association. It was created in 1990 after the unification of North and South Yemen. It was set up in a four-level system with Premier, First, Second and Third Division. 16 northern and 16 southern clubs entered the top level championship in the 1990–91 season. Previously, two separate championships were used for North Yemen and South Yemen. Currently, 14 clubs play at the top level, with four clubs being relegated to the 2nd tier. The season is generally run from early November to late June with the league winners entering the AFC Cup and Arab Champions League. The league has been cancelled since 2014 to 2021, due to the civil war which also stopped all other footballing activities in the Middle Eastern country. Al-Ahli Club Sanaa () is a Yemeni football and basketball club based in Sanaa, Yemen. The club was founded in 1952.
