Al-Fajr (sura)
Al-Fajr ( ar, الفجر, “The Dawn”, “Daybreak”) is the eighty-ninth chapter ( sura) of the Quran, with 30 ayat or verses. The sura describes destruction of disbelieving peoples: the Ancient Egyptians, the people of Iram of the Pillars, and Mada'in Saleh. It condemns those who love wealth and look with disdain upon the poor and orphans. Righteous people are promised Paradise – the final verse says "And enter you My Paradise!". The Surah is so designated after the word wal-fajr with which it opens. ''Al Fajr'' (Arabic الفجر; ''The Dawn'') is an independent Arabic-language daily newspaper published in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1974 the daily is one of the oldest publications in the country. History and profile ''Al Fajr'' was launched by Obaid Humaid Al Mazrooei in 1974. Mazrooei was also the first editor of the daily. The publisher of the paper is Dar Al Fajr Printing, Publishing and Advertising which was founded in 1975. The headquarters of the paper is in Abu Dhabi. The daily, an independent publication, provides local, national and international news. In addition, the paper provides supplements for arts and women. The newspaper is considered loyalist and pro-government. As of 2013 Sherif Al Bassel was the editor-in-chief of the daily. ''El Fagr'' (; also ''Al Fagr'', ar, الفجر "The dawn") is an Egyptian independent weekly newspaper, based in Cairo. History and profile ''El Fagr'' was first published on 3 June 2005. The paper is part of Al-Fagr for Printing and Publishing Inc. The weekly, published on Thursdays, is a sensationalist publication. Hassan Amr is one of the former editors of the paper. As of 2013 Manal Lashin was the editor-in-chief of the weekly. In its 21st edition, dated 17 October 2005, ''El Fagr'' was the first newspaper worldwide to republish on its front page (one cartoon) and page 17, a total of six cartoons portraying the Islamic prophet Muhammad of twelve cartoons originally published in the Danish newspaper ''Jyllands-Posten''.
