Akola Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Maharashtra state in central India. Sanjay Dhotre
Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre (born 26 February 1959) is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra and formerly Minister of State in the Government of India and a member of the 17th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Akola constituency of Maharashtra and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political party. He was also a member of the 14th Lok Sabha, 15th Lok Sabha and 16th Lok Sabha between 2004 and 2019 from Akola. Education and early career Dhotre holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Amravati. He graduated in 1981. Akola district (Marathi pronunciation: kolaː is a district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The city of Akola is the district headquarters. Akola district forms the central part of Amravati Division, which was the former British Raj Berar Province. Area of the district is 5,428 km². It is bounded on the north and east by Amravati District, to the south by Washim District, and to the west by Buldhana District. Washim was earlier a part of Akola till 1999. Akola district includes seven talukas which are Akola, Akot, Telhara, Balapur, Barshitakli, Murtijapur and Patur. 1957 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India between 24 February and 9 June 1957, the second elections to the Lok Sabha after independence. They were held five years after the 1951–52 elections in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of India. Elections to many state legislatures were held simultaneously. There were 494 seats elected using first past the post voting system. Out of the 403 constituencies, 91 elected two members, while the remaining 312 elected a single member. The multi-seat constituencies were abolished before the next election. Under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian National Congress easily won a second term in power, taking 371 of the 494 seats. They gained an extra seven seats (the size of the Lok Sabha had been increased by five) and their vote share increased from 45.0% to 47.8%. Laxman Shrawan Bhatkar
Laxman Shrawan Bhatkar (born 1901 in Thugaon Amravati district - 1970) was a politician and social worker from Central Provinces and Berar of British India. He was born in 1901 at Thugaon village of then Amravati district of the Province. He studied at Depressed Classes Mission High School at Bombay. Gopalrao Bajirao Khedkar
Dr. Gopalrao Bajirao Deshmukh alias Abasaheb Khedkar (14 January 1901 – 25 May 1969), also known as Abasaheb Khedkar was a social activist and a farmer's leader in India.
