Alexander Akimov (general)
Alexander Ivanovich Akimov (; 12 March 1895 – 2 February 1965) was a Soviet Army lieutenant general. Akimov fought in World War I and ended the war as an ensign before joining the Red Army, where he rose to battalion commander before the end of the Russian Civil War. During the interwar period, he served in both command and staff positions and commanded the 73rd Rifle Division when Operation Barbarossa began. Akimov was wounded and trapped behind German lines, but escaped after several months. He commanded the 82nd Motor Rifle Division, which became the 3rd Guards Motor Rifle Division and the 6th Guards Mechanized Corps, between 1942 and 1944, and ended the war as commander of the 78th Rifle Corps. Akimov held corps command and military district staff postings postwar before retiring in the 1950s. Aleksandr Fyodorovich Akimov (russian: Александр Фёдорович Акимов; 6 May 1953 – 11 May 1986) was a Soviet engineer who was the supervisor of the shift that worked at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Reactor Unit 4 on the night of the Chernobyl disaster, 26 April 1986 Biography Aleksandr Akimov was born on 6 May 1953 in Novosibirsk, Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, Russian SFSR (Republic of the Soviet Union). In 1976, Akimov graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, with the degree of specialist in engineering and automation of heat and power processes. He began his career at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in September 1979. During his first years at Chernobyl, he held positions of senior turbine management engineer and shift supervisor of the turbine hall. Aleksandra Akimova (russian: Александра Фёдоровна Акимова; 5 May 1922 – 29 December 2012) was a Soviet squadron navigator in the 46th Taman Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment during the Second World War. In 1994 she became one of the few women awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation. Early life Akimova was born on 5 May 1922 to a Russian peasant family in the village of Skopinsky within the Ryazan Governorate of the Russian SFSR. After graduating from secondary school she entered history classes at the Moscow Pedagogical Institute in addition to nursing courses. Ivan Akimovich Akimov (Russian: Иван Акимович Акимов; 22 May 1755 in Saint Petersburg – 15 May 1814 in Saint Petersburg) was a Russian painter in the Classicism, Classical style. Biography His father was a typographer and typesetter for the Governing Senate. At the age of ten, after his father's death, he wrote a letter to the Imperial Academy of Arts, requesting admission and pleading poverty. The letter was successful, and he was admitted. He was there from 1765 to 1773 and studied under Anton Losenko. During the years 1773 to 1778, he received a fellowship to study in Italy, going by way of Paris and Avignon and then to Genoa and Bologna, where he was enrolled at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna under Gaetano Gandolfi.
