Ajit Singh (Assam Politician)
Ajit Singh (born 25 November 1960) is an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He served as Member of Assam Legislative Assembly from Udharbond from 1998 to 2016. He also served as a minister of state from 2011 to 2015 and as a cabinet minister from 2015 to 2016. He has contested the Udharbond constituency every election since 1998. Early life and education Singh was born on 25 November 1960. His father was the late Dwarika Prasad Singh and the late Sanjari Devi. Singh has a HSLC from Govt. Boys H.S. School Silchar in 1977 and a BSC From GC College Silchar in the Year 1987. Political career Early political career Singh was the AGP candidate for the Udharbond constituency in a 1998 by-election. Third Tarun Gogoi Ministry
Tarun Gogoi constituted his ministry for the 3rd time on 30 May 2011. He had previously been List of chief ministers of Assam, Chief Minister from 2001. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. The counting of votes and results declaration was completed on 19 May 2016. Chief Minister (India)
In India, a chief minister is the elected head of government of each state out of the 28 states and sometimes a union territory (UT; currently, only the UTs of Delhi and Puducherry have serving chief ministers). According to the Constitution of India, the governor is a state's head, but ''de facto'' executive authority rests with the chief minister. Silchar
Silchar is a city and the headquarters of the Cachar district of the state of Assam, India. It is located south east of Guwahati. It was founded by Captain Thomas Fisher in 1832 when he shifted the headquarters of Cachar to Janiganj in Silchar. It earned the moniker “Island of Peace” from Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India. Silchar is the site of the world's first polo club and the first competitive polo match. In 1985, an Air India flight from Kolkata to Silchar became the world's first all-women crew flight. Silchar was a tea town and Cachar Club, Cachar club was the meeting point for tea planters. Lumding
Lumding (Pron:/lʌmˈdɪŋ/) is a city with municipal board in Hojai district in the Indian state of Assam. Etymology The word 'Lumding' owes its roots to a couple of Dimasa words 'Lama' and 'Ding' connoting 'straight pathway'. The word ''Lumding'' is also believed to be from karbi words 'loom' means the 'water from cloud' and 'ding' meaning 'scarcity or Nil'. Ardhendu Kumar Dey
Ardhendu Kumar Dey (24 March 1938 – 27 July 2022) was an Indian politician and Minister of Irrigation and Soil Conservation in the Government of Assam. He was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Hojai constituency from 1991 till 2006 as a member of INC. He was re-elected as an MLA from Hojai from 2011 to 2016. In April 2021, he left the Indian National Congress. Personal life He was born on 24 March 1938 to Aswini Kumar Dey and Hemalata Dey. He was a resident of Hojai, Assam. In 1966, he married Maya Dey, with whom he had one son. Death and reaction Death He was admitted into Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he was undergoing treatment. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government.
