Aiways Automobiles Company Ltd is a Chinese automobile manufacturer of electric cars founded in 2017. The Aiways name is derived from the phrase "Ai (meaning 'love' in Chinese) is on the way". History Aiways was founded by Fu Qiang (Samuel), former China sales chief of Volvo Cars, and Gary Gu in Shanghai in 2017. In August 2019, Aiways acquired a 50 percent stake in Chinese domestic automaker Jiangling Holdings. Jiangling was relaunched as a 50-25-25 three-way partnership with Aiways, Jiangling Motors Corporation Group and Changan Automobile. Aiways paid 1.75 billion yuan ($248 million) acquiring the stake, according to information disclosed by Changan Automobiles. The deal enables Aiways to obtain a license to produce EVs from China regulators and to use Jiangling's auto production plant to increase output. The Aiways U5 ( zh, s=爱驰U5, hp=Aì Chí U5) is an all-electric battery-powered compact crossover SUV manufactured by the Chinese company Aiways. It is the first vehicle model from this manufacturer. The production model of the U5 was publicly unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. The car was originally previewed as the Aiways U5 ion Concept in 2018. Production Aiways U5 is produced at the company’s manufacturing facility just outside Shangrao, China. Design The exterior styling of the U5 received an update in 2021 although the dimensions remained the same. Aiways has previously referred to the design as a “connection between modern craftsmanship and technology for the future”. The Aiways U6 is an all-electric battery-powered fastback Compact crossover SUV from Aiways. The U6 will be the second all-electric model produced by Chinese start up, Aiways. It is based on the U6 ion concept first shown at the Chengdu Auto Show in China in July 2020, and went into pre-production at Aiways’ Shangrao plant in May 2021. A term that originated from North America, the term crossover was initially used for any vehicle that blends characteristics between two different kinds of vehicles while, over time, crossover mostly refers to unibody-based SUVs. The blind spot monitor or blind-spot monitoring is a vehicle-based sensor device that detects other vehicles located to the driver’s side and rear. Warnings can be visual, audible, vibrating, or tactile. Blind spot monitors may do more than monitor the sides and rear of the vehicle. They may also include "Rear Cross-Traffic Alert", "which alerts drivers backing out of a parking space when traffic is approaching from the sides." In road-transport terminology, a lane departure warning system (LDWS) is a mechanism designed to warn the driver when the vehicle begins to move out of its lane (unless a turn signal is on in that direction) on freeways and arterial roads. These systems are designed to minimize accidents by addressing the main causes of collisions: driver error, distractions and drowsiness.
