Aha (wasp)
''Aha'' is a genus of wasp. , it consists of two species: '' A. ha'', and '' A. evansi'', and is endemic to Australia. The American entomologist Arnold S. Menke named and circumscribed the genus in 1977 for his newly- described species ''A. ha'' and ''A. evansi''. Taxonomic history In 1977, the American entomologist Arnold S. Menke wrote a paper circumscribing the new genus ''Aha'' which was accompanied by his descriptions of its two species: ''A. ha'' and ''A. evansi''. Howard Ensign Evans and Robert Matthews had provided him with specimens of this new genus; they had collected them during expeditions in Australia in 1969–1970 and 1972. Menke designated ''A. ha'' to be the genus's type species. Menke only had access to male specimens when writing his description of the genus and both species. Ole C. Lomholdt wrote a description of the female ''A. evansi'' in 1980. When Menke named ''Aha'', he placed it in the tribe Miscophini due to its ocelli. Lomholdt argued the genus sho ...

Alpha Hydroxy Acid
α-Hydroxy acids, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), are a class of chemical compounds that consist of a carboxylic acid with a hydroxyl group substituent on the adjacent (alpha) carbon. Prominent examples are glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid and citric acid. Although these compounds are related to the ordinary carboxylic acids and are therefore weak acids, their chemical structure allows for the formation of an internal hydrogen bond between the hydrogen at the hydroxyl group and one of the oxygen atoms of the carboxylic group. The net effect is an increase in acidity. For example, the pKa of lactic acid is 3.86, while that of the unsubstituted propionic acid is 4.87; a full pKa unit difference means that lactic acid is ten times stronger than propionic acid. Industrial applications Feed additives 2-Hydroxy-4-(methylthio)butyric acid is produced commercially as a racemic mixture to substitute for methionine in animal feed. In nature, the same compound is an intermediat ...

Achai Gaon
Achai Gaon (also known as Ahai of Shabḥa or Aha of Shabḥa, Hebrew: רב אחא חאימשַׁבָּחָא) was a leading scholar during the period of the Geonim, an 8th-century Talmudist of high renown. He enjoys the distinction of being the first rabbinical author known to history after the completion of the Talmud. As he never actually became the Gaon of either of the two academies, the description "Gaon" attached to his name is a misnomer. When the gaon of Pumbedita died, Aḥa was universally acknowledged to be the fittest man to succeed him. But a personal grudge entertained by the exilarch Solomon bar Ḥasdai induced the latter to pass over Aḥa, and to appoint Natronai ben Nehemiah, Aḥa's secretary, a man considerably his inferior in learning and general acquirements. Angered by this slight, Aḥa left Babylonia and settled in Israel, about 752 or 753, where he remained until his death. Despite Steinschneider's erroneous assertion that he died in 761, the exact ...

Rabbi Aha
Rabbi Aha ( he, רבי אחא, read as ''Rabbi Achah'') was a rabbi of the Land of Israel, of the fourth century (fourth generation of amoraim). Biography He resided at Lod, but later settled in Tiberias where Huna II, Judah ben Pazi, and himself eventually constituted a beit din. He was also a colleague of Rabbi Jonah and Jose bar Zevida. He was either a kohen or a Levite. It is said that when he died, the sky darkened to the point that stars were seen at midday. Teachings Most of his work on halakha and aggadah is cited in the Jerusalem Talmud and the midrash, and very little is cited in the Babylonian Talmud. He is quoted hundreds of times in the Jerusalem Talmud. Like his elder namesakes, he was a recognized authority on halakhah; but in aggadah he surpassed them, being by far the most frequently quoted by aggadists of his own times and of subsequent generations. Commenting on Abraham's attempt to sacrifice Isaac, Aḥa tries to prove that the patriarch misunderstood th ...

Atlanta Housing Authority
The Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA) is an agency that provides affordable housing for low-income families in Atlanta. Today, the AHA is the largest housing agency in Georgia and one of the largest in the United States, serving approximately 50,000 people. The AHA was founded in 1938, taking over from the Public Works Administration (PWA). Due to the lobbying of Charles Palmer, an Atlantan real estate developer, Atlanta had been the site of the first public housing project in the country in 1936, Techwood Homes. Early public housing projects such as Techwood and its sister project, University Homes, were built for working-class families on the sites of former slums. Charles Palmer became the AHA's first chairperson, and under him and his successors, the agency continued to clear slums and build public housing complexes. The first phase of construction lasted from 1938 to 1941, and was financed with funds from the Wagner-Steagall Act. The second phase was from 1951 to 1956, using ...
