Engelbert Humperdinck (singer)
Arnold George Dorsey (born 2 May 1936), known professionally as Engelbert Humperdinck, is an English pop singer who has been described as "one of the finest middle-of-the-road balladeers around". He achieved international prominence in 1967 with his recording of " Release Me". Starting as a performer under the name of Gerry Dorsey in the late 1950s, he later adopted the name of the German composer Engelbert Humperdinck as a stage name and found success after he partnered with manager Gordon Mills in 1965. His recordings of the ballads " Release Me" and "The Last Waltz" both topped the UK Singles Chart in 1967, selling more than a million copies each. Humperdinck scored further major hits in rapid succession, including " There Goes My Everything" (1967), "Am I That Easy to Forget" (1968) and " A Man Without Love" (1968). Neil Sedaka
Neil Sedaka (; born March 13, 1939) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. Since his music career began in 1957, he has sold millions of records worldwide and has written or co-written over 500 songs for himself and other artists, collaborating mostly with lyricists Howard "Howie" Greenfield and Phil Cody. After a short-lived tenure as a founding member of the doo-wop group the Tokens, Sedaka achieved a string of hit singles over the late 1950s and early 1960s, including "Oh! Carol" (1959), " Calendar Girl" (1960), "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen" (1961) and " Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" (1962). Howard Greenfield
Howard Greenfield (March 15, 1936 – March 4, 1986) was an American lyricist and songwriter, who for several years in the 1960s worked out of the famous Brill Building. He is best known for his successful songwriting collaborations, including one with Neil Sedaka from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s, and near-simultaneous (and equally successful) songwriting partnerships with Jack Keller and Helen Miller throughout most of the 1960s. Songs Greenfield co-wrote four songs that reached #1 on the US ''Billboard'' charts: " Breaking Up Is Hard to Do", as recorded by Sedaka; " Everybody's Somebody's Fool" and " My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own", both as recorded by Connie Francis, and " Love Will Keep Us Together", as recorded by Captain & Tennille. "I Can't Live a Dream" is a 1976 single by The Osmonds as the first track on their ''Brainstorm'' LP.. It was written by Arnold Capitanelli and first recorded by Frankie Valli in 1975 on his solo album ''Closeup''. After The Osmonds charted a top-40 hit and easy listening chart-topper in 1975 with another Valli cover, "The Proud One," the quintet recorded "I Can't Live a Dream" as a follow-up. It was the lead single of two released from the album, and was the only one to chart. As was the case with most of the Osmonds' mid-1970s singles, only Merrill Osmond (by this point sporting a short-lived mustache to help distinguish himself from his brothers) sang lead vocals. The song reached number 46 in the U.S. and number 50 in Canada. It was a marginally better performer on the Easy Listening charts, peaking at number 38 in the U.S. and number 35 in Canada. Arthur Bruce Schroeck (born October 10, 1938) is an American musician, best known for arranging and composing popular songs and jingles. He has won multiple Clio Awards, such as when he composed the music for the 1981 ABC-TV promo "Now is the time, ABC is the place". He also composed (with Frank Gari) the 1982 promo "Come on along with ABC". He arranged the classic "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" in 1967 for Frankie Valli and has written or arranged music for multiple other artists including Liza Minnelli, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra.
