Afghanistan National Under-17 Football Team
The Afghanistan national under-17 football team is controlled by the Afghanistan Football Federation and represents Afghanistan in international under-17 football competitions. The team properly qualified for the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship, but were disqualified from the tournament for fielding an ineligible player in the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship qualification tournament. Afghanistan Football Federation
The Afghanistan Football Federation (A.F.F.) (Persian: فدراسيون فوتبال افغانستان) is the governing body of football in Afghanistan, controlling the men's and women's national teams. It was founded in 1922 and has been a member of FIFA since 1948 and the Asian Football Confederation since 1954. The Afghanistan national football team won the 2013 South Asian Football Federation Championship, which was their first ever international football trophy. In early 2014, at the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony, the Afghanistan Football Federation was awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award for 2013. 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship
The FIFA U-17 World Championship 2001, the ninth edition of the tournament, was held in the cities of Port of Spain, Malabar in Arima, Marabella in San Fernando, Couva, and Bacolet in Scarborough at Trinidad and Tobago between 13 and 30 September 2001. Players born after 1 January 1984 could participate in this tournament. Although France had only appeared once before at the FIFA U-17 World Championship, in Canada back in 1987 when they finished sixth, the current crop of French youngsters arrived in the Caribbean determined to emulate their illustrious elders' winning ways at France '98 and Euro 2000. The 1986 AFC U-16 Championship was the 2nd edition of the AFC U-16 Championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It also served as a qualification tournament for the 1987 FIFA U-16 World Championship to be held at Canada. 1985 AFC U-16 Championship
The 1985 AFC U-16 Championship was the inaugural edition of the AFC U-16 Championship organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), a tournament for Asian under-16 teams that also served as a qualification tournament for the 1985 FIFA U-16 World Championship to be held at China. The tournament was won by Saudi Arabia, who defeated Qatar on penalties. Both teams accompanied the already qualified China to the 1985 FIFA U-16 World Cup. AFC U-17 Asian Cup
The AFC U-17 Asian Cup, formerly known as the AFC U-16 Championship and AFC U-17 Championship, is a football competition, organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held once every two years for Asian under-17 teams that also serves as a qualification tournament for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The top 4 countries qualify to participate in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Up to 2000, the tournament was for U-16 teams. Between 2002 and 2006 it was held as an under-17 tournament. Between 2008 and 2020, it was switched back to a U-16 Championship. The AFC have proposed switching back to an under-17 tournament starting from 2023. Moreover, the tournament will also be rebranded from the "AFC U-16 Championship" to the "AFC U-17 Asian Cup". 2021 FIFA U-17 World Cup
The 2021 FIFA U-17 World Cup would have been the 19th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It would have been hosted by Peru. Brazil were the defending champions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was cancelled on 24 December 2020. Peru was then awarded the right to host the subsequent FIFA U-17 World Cup instead. Host selection Peru were announced as hosts following the FIFA Council meeting on 24 October 2019 in Shanghai, China. They were also one of the bidders to host the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which was awarded to Indonesia on the same day in exchange for Peru's right to host the U-17 competition. The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup was the 17th FIFA U-17 World Cup, a biennial international football tournament contested by men's under-17 national teams. The 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup was the fourteenth tournament of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, and the eleventh played since the change in age limits from under 16s to Under 17s in 1991.
