Admiralteysky District (russian: Адмиралте́йский райо́н) is a district of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia. As of the 2010 Census, its population: was 157,897; down from 187,837 recorded in the 2002 Census. Geography The district borders the Neva River in the north and in the west, the Yekateringofka River in the southwest, areas around Gorokhovaya Street in the east, and areas around Zagorodny Avenue in the south. Admiralteyskaya (Saint Petersburg Metro)
Admiralteyskaya (russian: Адмиралте́йская) is a station on the Frunzensko-Primorskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. Opened on 28 December 2011, it is designed to relieve congestion at the Nevsky Prospekt and Gostiny Dvor stations, as well as to provide a more direct link to the Hermitage and other notable museums. However, the completion of the stations was hampered by the lack of funds and ongoing controversy over the placement of station's exit. The station will eventually provide a transfer to the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya Line station tentatively designated ''Admiralteyskaya-2'' (the construction of that station has not begun yet). After the exit location was settled, the station ''Admiralteyskaya-1'' on the Frunzensko-Primorskaya Line was scheduled to open in 2008, but concerns over the station's historic significance pushed the opening back. Admiralty Embankment
The Admiralty Embankment ( (''Admiralteyskaya Naberezhnaya'')) or Admiralty Quay is a street along the Neva River in Central Saint Petersburg, named after the Admiralty Board. Between 1919 and 1944 the street was known as Roshal Embankment, named after the revolutionary S. G. Roshal. The Admiralty Embankment was constructed in 1763 to 1767, by the engineers V. M. Karlowicz and S. S. Selyavionov. The street has no other buildings than the Admiralty and the Bronze Horseman. The street begins at the Decembrists Square, where the English Embankment becomes the Admiralty Embankment. The street ends at the Palace Bridge, where it becomes the Palace Embankment. The Admiralty Embankment is home to the Admiralty building and the Bronze Horseman, it has also a wonderful view of the Neva and the Saint Petersburg State University is just across the Neva.
