The United States Administrator of Drug Enforcement is the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration, a United States federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Justice, tasked with combating drug trafficking and distribution within the United States. Anne Melissa Milgram (born December 1, 1970) is an American attorney and academic who serves as the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Milgram was previously the 57th Attorney General of New Jersey from 2007 to 2010. Early life and education Milgram was born on December 1, 1970, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey, the daughter of Gail (née Gleason) and William "Bill" Milgram. Her mother was a professor at Rutgers University, and her father was an engineer. She has one sister Lynn Milgram Mayer who is a college professor. Milgram served as a congressional page while attending East Brunswick High School. Michele Marie Leonhart (born February 27, 1956) is an American career law enforcement officer and the former Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). After the resignation of Administrator Karen P. Tandy in the fall of 2007, Leonhart also served as Acting Administrator of the DEA. Karen Pomerantz Tandy is an American attorney and law enforcement official who served as the administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration from 2003 to 2007. She was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 31, 2003. She was the first female head of the DEA.
