Adenta (Ghana Parliament Constituency)
Adenta is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Adenta is located in the Adentan Municipal District of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Boundaries The seat is located within the Adentan Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It was formed prior to the 2004 December presidential and parliamentary elections by the division of the old Ashaiman constituency into the new Adenta and Ashaiman constituencies. Adenta Municipal District
Adenta Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tema Municipal District, which was created from the former Tema District Council, until two parts of the district were later split off to create Adenta Municipal District (from the northwest part) and Ashaiman Municipal District (from the north central part) respectively on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part was elevated to metropolitan district assembly status on that same year to become Tema Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Adenta East as its capital town. 2008 Ghanaian Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2008. Since no candidate received more than 50% of the votes, a run-off election was held on 28 December 2008 between the two candidates who received the most votes, Nana Akufo-Addo of the governing New Patriotic Party and John Atta Mills of the opposition National Democratic Congress. Mills was certified as the victor by a margin of less than one percent, winning the presidency on his third attempt. It is to date the closest election in Ghanaian history. National Reconstruction Party
Act ( pt, Agir), formerly named National Reconstruction Party ( pt, Partido da Reconstrução Nacional; PRN) and Christian Labour Party ( pt, Partido Trabalhista Cristão; PTC), is a political party in Brazil. The party was founded in 1985 as the Youth Party (''Partido da Juventude'', PJ) by Daniel Tourinho, a Brazilian lawyer. In 1989 the party was renamed National Reconstruction Party. Fernando Collor de Mello represented the party in the 1989 Brazilian presidential election, the country's first direct election since the 1964 Brazilian coup d'état, which followed a redemocratization process started in the 1980s. Democratic People's Party (Ghana)
The Democratic People's Party is a Ghanaian political party formed in 1992 after the ban on political party activity was lifted by the Provisional National Defence Council government of Ghana. The party claims to follow the Nkrumahist tradition along with the People's National Convention (PNC), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), National Reform Party (NRP) and the Convention People's Party (CPP). Progressive Alliance The party formed the "Progressive Alliance" with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere (EGLE) for the presidential election in December 1992. Their common presidential candidate was Jerry Rawlings of the NDC. This alliance continued through the 1996 elections with the party not fielding its own candidates. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a Socialism, socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance. 2020 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results. The NPP lost its majority in the parliament, winning just as many seats as the opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament with a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) in the position of kingmaker. Yaw Buaben Asamoa (born 16 September 1964) is a Ghanaian politician and former member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Adenta Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party. He is currently the Special Advisor for the Movement for Change lead by Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng. 2016 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2016 to elect a President and Members of Parliament. They had originally been scheduled for 7 November 2016, but the date was later rejected by Parliament. Former foreign minister Nana Akufo-Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party was elected President on his third attempt, defeating incumbent President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress. The election results were announced on 9 December 2016 due to a delay of voting in two areas. At 19:51 local time, Mahama called Akufo-Addo to concede defeat. At 20:45, the Electoral Commission declared that Akufo-Addo had defeated Mahama in a single round. It was the first time in Ghana's history that a sitting president had been defeated for reelection. 2012 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on Friday 7 December 2012 to elect a president and members of Parliament in 275 electoral constituencies. Owing to the breakdown of some biometric verification machines, some voters could not vote, and voting was extended to Saturday 8 December 2012. A run-off was scheduled for 28 December 2012 if no presidential candidate received an absolute majority of 50% plus one vote.
