Adam Girard de Langlade Mpali (born 29 May 2002) is a Gabonese swimmer who competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life Adam Girard de Langlade Mpali was born on 29 May 2002 and has a sister, fellow competitive swimmer Aya Mpali. In 2011, when Mpali was 9, his family went on a boating trip to Point Denis but the boat began sinking and the family had to swim for miles; Aya and Adam survived the three-hour swim but their parents did not make it. Aya Girard de Langlade Mpali (born 24 June 2004) is a Gabonese swimmer who has represented her country in international competitions. She was chosen, together with her brother, to compete at the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, swimming in the women's 50 metre freestyle heats. Point Denis
Point Denis is the best known seaside resort in Gabon. It lies on a peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gabon Estuary, across which boats sail to Libreville. It also lies near the Pongara National Park. Wildlife Leatherback turtles Point Denis is a major breeding ground for the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea). Between 1 800 and 2 000 nests are laid annually on its beaches. Recent studies by Dr Sharon Deem, formerly of the Wildlife Conservation Society, note that the worldwide turtle population is being threatened by man's activities. One such activity is the development of Point Denis. Turtles find their way to the sea by using the light from the moon shimmering off the water as a reference. The 12th African Games was held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.
