Iván Acosta Montalván is a Nicaraguan politician and the Minister of Finance in the administration of Daniel Ortega since February 2012. Acosta was born in Bluefields on 28 September 1964. He has degrees in economics, and law, and a master's degree in business law. From the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua he holds a PhD in social sciences and a law degree. In 2011 he graduated with a master's degree in business law at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua. Josephine Acosta Pasricha (born March 26, 1945-June 6, 2020) was a Filipino indologist who translated the "Ramacharitamanasa" of Tulasi Dasa, the Hindi translation of the Ramayana by Valmiki in Sanskrit, into the Filipino language. Pasricha herself was mentored by Filipino indologist Juan R. Francisco. She made a complete unpublished Filipino translation of the seven books of the "Ramacharitamanasa" of Tulasi Dasa, accompanied with contextual, intertextual and textual analysis, and cross-references with Sanskrit, Hindi and English translations. An expert in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, she was also a Ford Foundation research scholar to the University of Delhi. José Julián Acosta
José Julián Acosta (February 16, 1825 – August 26, 1891), was a journalist and an advocate of the abolition of slavery in Puerto Rico. Early years José Julián Acosta Calbo was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Francisco de Acosta y Sandoval and Juana Antonia Calbo y Garriga. There he received his primary education. He was one of Rafael Cordero's most notable students. Cordero was an inspiration to Acosta and the influence of his teachings remained with Acosta for the rest of his life. Later, he became a protégé of Father Rufo Manuel Fernández, who would send him to Madrid, Spain to study Physics and Mathematics. After he graduated in 1851, Acosta continued to expand his educational knowledge in Paris, London, and Berlin. Joe Acosta
Joe Acosta (October 31, 1950 – April 6, 2020) was a salsa piano player and one of the pioneers of Latin music in the United States in the early 1970s. Born in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Acosta migrated to New York City in 1953 and settled in East Harlem, a neighborhood with many salsa musicians. Acosta started his first band in 1969. During his tenure at MSM he also played with many of the local bands including Johnny Colon's Band (playing both trombone and piano), The TNT Band, The Latinjazzmen, and Joe Bataan. In the early 1970s, Acosta became more successful and recorded his first LP, ''The Power of Love'', on Ghetto Records. Acosta wrote most of the tunes, including the 21-week Billboard Latin Top 10 single "I Need Her."
