Sergiu Florin Nicolaescu (; 13 April 1930 – 3 January 2013) was a Romanian film director, actor and politician. He was best known for his historical films, such as '' Mihai Viteazul'' (1970, released in English both under the equivalent title ''Michael the Brave'' and also as ''The Last Crusade''), ''Dacii'' (1966, ''Les Guerriers''), ''Războiul IndependenÈ›ei'' (1977, ''War of Independence''), as well as for his series of thrillers that take place in the interwar Kingdom of Romania, such as '' Un comisar acuză'' (1973, ''A Police Inspector Calls''). Vladimir Găitan (; 2 February 1947 – 10 November 2020) was a Romanian actor. Born in Suceava, he studied at the Academy of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in Bucharest, graduating in 1970. Găitan appeared in more than forty films since 1968. He died on 10 November 2020 after fighting against lymphatic cancer, and was buried at Bellu Cemetery Șerban Vodă Cemetery (commonly known as Bellu Cemetery) is the largest and most famous cemetery in Bucharest, Romania. Emil Hossu
Emil Hossu (; 24 November 1941 – 25 January 2012) was a Romanian actor. Hossu was born into a Greek-Catholic family in Ocna Sibiului, Sibiu County. He was a well-known actor of stage and screen in the 1980s and 1990s, having performed in over 50 movies and stage productions. At the time of his death, on 25 January 2012, he was performing at the Nottara Theatre in Bucharest alongside his wife, the actress Catrinel Dumitrescu. Hossu died of a cardiac arrest, just as he was about to go on stage in a play called ''The Anniversary''. He is interred at Bellu Cemetery in Bucharest. Ernest Maftei (; 6 March 1920 – 19 October 2006) was a Romanian film actor. He appeared in more than seventy films from 1953 to 2006. Biography Born in Prăjești, Bacău County, he attended high school in Bacău, and, at age 17, he joined the youth branch of the Iron Guard. For his militant activities, he was detained in 1938 for 5 months at a correctional facility in Vaslui, and later at prisons in Galați, Jilava, and Văcărești. In 1944 he graduated the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art of Iași. During the early Communist regime he was arrested and spent more time in prison before being released after the intervention of some Jews he helped. Amza Pellea (; 7 April 1931 – 12 December 1983) was a Romanian actor noted for playing Romanian national heroes on film. He was born in Băilești, Oltenia, and attended the Carol I High School in Craiova. He later played at the Craiova Theatre, then at the Small Theatre, the Nottara Theatre, the Comedy Theatre, and the National Theatre in Bucharest, and also was a professor at the Academy of Theatre and Film in Bucharest.
