Abyss (Chelsea Wolfe Album)
''Abyss'' is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter and her eponymous band Chelsea Wolfe. The album was released on August 7, 2015 through Sargent House and was produced by John Congleton. It also features guest contributions from Mike Sullivan of Russian Circles and Dan Phillips from True Widow. The album received positive reviews from music critics and peaked at No. 130 on the ''Billboard'' 200, becoming Wolfe's first album to enter the chart. Chelsea Wolfe
Chelsea Joy Wolfe (born November 14, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Her work has blended elements of gothic rock, doom metal, and folk music. Raised in Northern California with a country musician father, Wolfe began writing and recording songs during her childhood. She earned underground critical acclaim for her releases, ''The Grime and the Glow'' (2010) and '' Apokalypsis'' (2011), which blended gothic and folk elements. In her later albums '' Pain Is Beauty'' (2013), ''Abyss'' (2015), and ''Hiss Spun'' (2017), Wolfe incorporated elements of neofolk, electronic music and heavy metal. Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s.
