About Us (album)
''About Us'' is the debut studio album by Australian indie pop singer G Flip. The album was released on 30 August 2019. Prior to the album's release, the songs were described as about "heartbreak and reconciliation". G Flip said: "I thought about releasing an album a lot growing up, I would sit in the lounge room holding dad's record collection in awe, I was intrigued, I wanted my own. It's a big moment, I'm super stoked to drop my debut." The album was supported by an Australian tour, commencing in Adelaide on 8 November 2019. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2019, the album was nominated for two awards; Breakthrough Artist and Best Independent Release, "Drink Too Much" was nominated for Best Video. Georgia Claire Flipo, known professionally as G Flip, is an Australian singer, songwriter, producer, drummer, and musician from Melbourne, Victoria. They released their debut studio album, '' About Us'', on 30 August 2019. Early life and education Flipo attended primary school at Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School (OLA) in Cheltenham, Victoria and secondary school at Star of the Sea College in Brighton, Victoria, graduating in 2011. Musical career Flipo has been playing drums since the age of nine, and percussion still forms a big part of their songwriting process despite now being a multi-instrumentalist. They said that they "spent most of 2017 holed up in their bedroom writing and recording", having previously performed in various different Melbourne music acts as a session drummer and occasional backup vocalist. Joel Quartermain
Joel Quartermain (born 19 January 1977) is an Australian guitarist, back-up singer, recording drummer and pianist of the band Eskimo Joe. He spent a lot of his childhood focused on radio and tapes. In 1989, he moved to Perth, Western Australia, where he attended Hollywood Senior High School. Quartermain started playing in bands from the age of 12, forming an outfit called Hollywood Boulevard, shifting from keyboards to guitar along the way. This band then evolved into a funk band called Carpet, which consisted of Quartermain on guitar, bassist Simon Leach (Little Birdy) and Simon's brother Stuart on drums . They were subsequently joined by Kavyen Temperley on vocals, changing the name of the band again to Freud's Pillows. As Freud's Pillow they released an EP, ''Pleasure Puppy'' in 1997. The 2020 AIR Awards was the fourteenth annual Australian Independent Record Labels Association Music Awards ceremony (generally known as the AIR Awards). It took place on 1 October 2020 in Adelaide. The nominations were revealed on 7 July 2020, consisting of sixteen categories, up four from twelve, as was the case in 2019. The four new categories were: Best Independent Pop Album or EP, Best Independent Rock Album or EP, Best Independent Children's Album or EP, and Best Independent Soul/R&B Album or EP.
