About Time (The Stranglers Album)
''About Time'' is the twelfth studio album from the Stranglers and the second one from the Black, Burnel, Greenfield, Roberts and Ellis line-up. The album was released in 1995 through the When! label. It was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Alan Winstanley, who had worked with the Stranglers on their first four albums (as the engineer on ''Rattus Norvegicus'', '' No More Heroes'' and '' Black and White'' and producer on ''The Raven''). Nigel Kennedy plays electric violin on "Face", and a string-quartet is used on three of the eleven tracks ("Face", "Still Life" and "Sinister"). "Lies and Deception" was the only single released from the album, reaching No. 94 on the UK Singles Chart, and is one of the few Stranglers songs solely written by drummer Jet Black. ''About Time'' is a theatrical play written by playwright Tom Cole that debuted in 1990 Off Broadway at the John Houseman Theater. This two-character play featured an elderly couple, identified only as Old Man and Old Woman, chatting and arguing about matters around the subject of death. Directed by Tony Giordano, the play original production starred James Whitmore and Audra Lindley, described in a Mel Gussow review as an "endearing couple" who "act their way through and around the slight play that Tom Cole has created for them". Lindley and Whitmore had been married to each other and divorced in 1979, yet continued to perform with each other on stage. The play presents four short scenes, titled "Breakfast", "Lunch", "Supper" and "Late Snack", with the play traditionally having an intermission between the second and third sets. Straylight Run is an emo band based in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. The band released two albums, ''Straylight Run'' and '' The Needles the Space'', as well as three EPs, ''Prepare to Be Wrong'', ''About Time'', and ''Un Mas Dos''. In 2010, the band announced that they would be going on indefinite hiatus, but might reunite in the future. Two of the members, John Nolan and Shaun Cooper, are currently in Taking Back Sunday. Steve Newman is a South African acoustic guitarist, and was a founder member of the popular African group Tananas. Five Fingers of Funk, also stylized as 5 Fingers of Funk, is an American hip hop group that formed in 1992 and is currently based in Portland, Oregon. Pete Miser met drummer Talbot Guthrie and together they formed what originally was a nine-piece group. They grew to be a ten-piece group that performed at venues such as La Luna, Satyricon, Roseland Theater, X-Ray Cafe, and Berbati's Pan. The group is an example of hip hop from Portland, where it's generally considered lacking. Pete Miser, the lead vocalist described the Portland hip hop culture as "dope, but it has such a marginalized status".
