Abdullah Shaaban
Abdullah Shaaban (born 12 June 1994) is a Kuwaiti karateka. He won the silver medal in the men's 60kg event at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey. He is also a two-time gold medalist in the men's 60kg event at the Asian Karate Championships (2018 and 2022). Career Shaaban won the gold medal in the men's 60kg event at the 2018 Asian Karate Championships held in Amman, Jordan. He competed in the men's 60 kg event at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2021, Shaaban competed at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Paris, France hoping to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He was eliminated in his third match by Firdovsi Farzaliyev of Azerbaijan and he did not qualify for the Olympics. Shaaban competed in the men's kumite 60kg event at the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, United States. 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games
The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games ( tr, 2021 İslami Dayanışma Oyunları) were the 5th edition of the event held from 9 to 18 August 2022 at Konya, Turkey under the aegis of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF). It was the first time in history that the event was organised by the Turkish Olympic Committee. Formerly scheduled to take place from 20 to 29 August 2021, the event was postponed to be held from 10 to 19 September 2021 in July 2020 by the ISSF because the original dates were coinciding with the 2020 Summer Olympics, which were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2021, the ISSF postponed the event to August 2022 citing the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the participating countries. The 2022 World Games were an international multi-sport event held from July 7 to 17, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. They were the 11th World Games, a multi-sport event featuring disciplines of Olympic sports and other competitions that are not currently contested at the Olympic Games; the Games featured 3,600 athletes competing in 206 medal events over 30 sports.
