Abdulaziz Bin Salman Al Saud
Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud ( ar, عبد العزيز بن سلمان آل سعود ''ʿAbd al ʿAzīz bin Salman Al Suʿūd''; born 1960) is a Saudi royal and politician who has served as the Saudi Arabian minister of energy since September 2019. He is the first royal to serve as energy minister. He was the assistant oil minister of Saudi Arabia between 2005 and 2017. In 2017, he was made state minister for energy affairs. Early life and education Prince Abdulaziz was born in 1960. He is the fourth son of King Salman bin Abdulaziz. His mother is Sultana bint Turki Al Sudairi, who died at age 71 in July 2011. She was the daughter of Prince Salman's uncle, Turki bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, who was formerly the governor of Asir Province. The Ministry of Energy () is a government ministry in Saudi Arabia and part of the cabinet. It is responsible for developing and implementing policies concerning petroleum and related products. The Ministry of Energy is working to diversify the national energy mix used in electricity production, increasing the share of natural gas and renewable energy sources to approximately 50% by 2030 while reducing the use of liquid fuel. In August 2019, King Salman issued a royal decree and divided the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources into two: Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Ministry of Energy. She was a member of the Al Sudairi family and the wife of Abdul Rahman bin Faisal who was the last ruler of the Second Saudi State. Sara was the mother of King Abdulaziz or Ibn Saud who was the founder of Saudi Arabia.
