''A Year with Swollen Appendices'' is a book by Brian Eno. The paperback book was published by Faber and Faber in 1996 and is divided into two sections. The first part is a diary covering the year 1995, the second part, the 'swollen appendices' of the title is a collection of essays, short stories and correspondence. It was re-released with a new introduction by the author in 2021. Diary The diary covers the year 1995, which proved to be particularly productive for Eno. It details four different musical projects he was involved in: the album ''Spinner'' with Jah Wobble, the Passengers album ''Original Soundtracks 1'' with U2, David Bowie's '' Outside'' and the War Child charity album ''The Help Album'' as well as exploratory sessions with the band James. Brian Eno
Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno (; born Brian Peter George Eno, 15 May 1948) is a British musician, composer, record producer and visual artist best known for his contributions to ambient music and work in rock, pop and electronica. A self-described "non-musician", Eno has helped introduce unconventional concepts and approaches to contemporary music. He has been described as one of popular music's most influential and innovative figures. Born in Suffolk, Eno studied painting and experimental music at the art school of Ipswich Civic College in the mid 1960s, and then at Winchester School of Art. He joined glam rock group Roxy Music as its synthesiser player in 1971, recording two albums with the group before departing in 1973. ''I Dormienti'' is the nineteenth solo studio album from British musician Brian Eno, released in 1999. It is also the title of an art-book by Eno and Italian artist Mimmo Paladino, released in 2000, packaged with a copy of the album and featuring pictures & sketches of the installation from which the music is drawn. Overview An Opal release, with no catalogue number, this title is only currently available from EnoShop. The music on the album is taken from an installation that took place at the undercroft of the Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Road, Camden, London, from 9 September to 6 October 1999. ''More Dark Than Shark'' is a 1986 book by Brian Eno and Russell Mills. It features the lyrics to Eno's songs, each accompanied by an artwork inspired by the song's lyrics by Mills. Most of the lyrics and artworks are accompanied by notes by Eno and Mills on the lyrics and the interpretation of them as used for the artwork. The book is arranged chronologically, with songs arranged according to the album on which they appeared. Each album forms a chapter and is introduced by a commentary by Rick Poynor, these commentaries are largely formed through interviews with Eno. Generative music is a term popularized by Brian Eno to describe music that is ever-different and changing, and that is created by a system. Historical background In 1995 whilst working with SSEYO's Koan software (built by Tim Cole and Pete Cole who later evolved it to Noatikl then Wotja), Brian Eno used the term "generative music" to describe any music that is ever-different and changing, created by a system. The term has since gone on to be used to refer to a wide range of music, from entirely random music mixes created by multiple simultaneous CD playback, through to live rule-based computer composition. Stewart Brand (born December 14, 1938) is an American writer, best known as editor of the ''Whole Earth Catalog''. He founded a number of organizations, including The WELL, the Global Business Network, and the Long Now Foundation.
