George Marshall (director)
George E. Marshall (December 29, 1891 – February 17, 1975) was an American actor, screenwriter, Film producer, producer, Film director, film and television director, active through the first six decades of film history. Relatively few of Marshall's films are well-known today, with ''Destry Rides Again'' (1939), ''The Ghost Breakers'' (1940), ''The Blue Dahlia'' (1946), ''The Sheepman'' (1958), and ''How the West Was Won (film), How the West Was Won'' (1962) being the biggest exceptions. Doc Crane (1847 – April 17, 1920) was an American silent film actor. Crane was a medical doctor in Boston who served in the Civil War and returned to his practice after its end. When he was 65, he moved to California to retire. After financial difficulties depleted his savings, he found work as a character actor at Universal studios, drawing upon his experience in amateur dramatic productions when he was in medical school. He was signed in 1914 and starred in about 30 films before his retirement three years later in 1917. Francis Worcester Doughty (November 5, 1850 – October 30, 1917) was an American screenwriter and novelist. Doughty held unorthodox views about the age of humans. Biography Doughty was born in Brooklyn, and wrote '' Old King Brady'' dime novel stories for Frank Tousey. He wrote around 1500 novels. Doughty specialized in detective stories, and had the characteristic of repeating the title in the final sentence of the story. In 1914, he was recruited to work on the Thanhouser serial, '' Zudora'', writing episodes 11 to 20. Doughty was also a numismatist and coin collector. He wrote ''The Cents of the United States, A Numismatic Study'' (1890) and his collection (containing 1539 lots) was sold at auction in 1891. Olive Carey
Olive Carey (born Olive Fuller Golden; January 31, 1896 – March 13, 1988) was an American film and television actress, and the mother of actor Harry Carey Jr. Life and career Carey was born Olive Fuller Golden in New York City, the daughter of Ada (Maxwell), who was from Surrey, and George Fuller Golden (originally George Michael Fuller), a vaudeville entertainer. In 1912, her father died, "leaving a wife and four children destitute." She had a sister, Ruth Fuller Golden, who also acted in films. Film Carey's screen debut was in ''Sorrowful Jones'' (1913). She next acted in '' Tess of the Storm Country'' (1914). (An obituary indicates that the name of her initial film was '' The Sorrowful Shore''.) She appeared in more than 50 films, mostly westerns, including ''Gunfight at the O.K. Corral'', often playing tough tomboy parts.
