"A Strange Kind of Love" is a song by English musician Peter Murphy, from his third solo studio album, ''Deep'' (1989). Produced by Murphy himself and Simon Rogers, it was released as the third single off the album in 1990 through Beggars Banquet and RCA Records. Even though the song didn't maintain the mainstream success of the previous single, " Cuts You Up", it charted on US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks, peaking at number 21. Versions There are up to four different versions of this song: - A Strange Kind Of Love (Version One): this is the Deep album version. It is based in acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals, without electric guitars, bass or drums. Peter Murphy (musician)
Peter John Joseph Murphy (born 11 July 1957) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the vocalist for the post-punk goth rock band Bauhaus. After Bauhaus initially disbanded, Murphy formed Dali's Car with Japan's bassist Mick Karn and released one album, '' The Waking Hour'' (1984). He later went on to release a number of solo albums, including '' Should the World Fail to Fall Apart'' (1986) and ''Love Hysteria'' (1988). In 1990, he achieved mainstream success with his hit single "Cuts You Up", which topped the American Modern Rock Tracks for 7 weeks. His album ''Deep'' also reached No. 44 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Michael Trent Reznor (born May 17, 1965) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer. Phenomenal Handclap Band was formed in New York's East Village by producer Daniel Collás. Their first full-length record, '' Phenomenal Handclap Band'', featured such diverse talents as Aurelio Valle, Carol C, Jaleel Bunton, Jon Spencer, and Lady Tigra. In 2011, Phenomenal Handclap Band toured the US and UK with Bryan Ferry. Their second full-length album, ''Form and Control'', was released February 13th, 2012. After a four year hiatus, the band released the single “Traveler’s Prayer” backed with “Stepped Into The Light” on their own Daptone Records imprint, Magnifreeq, in May 2017. Diane Birch (born January 24, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter. Early life Birch was born in Michigan. At the age of seven she began studying piano using the Suzuki method. While growing up she listened to opera, classical and church music. Birch's father was a Seventh-day Adventist missionary in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Sydney, Australia, and as a result Birch spent her early years abroad. When she was ten, her family returned to the United States, and settled in Portland, Oregon. Birch attended Portland Adventist Elementary School and later, Portland Adventist Academy. Career Early in her career Birch moved to Los Angeles and set out to compose music for films but instead played piano at the Beverly Hills Hotel and L'Orangerie.
