A Shot At Dawn
''A Shot at Dawn'' (German: ''Schuß im Morgengrauen'') is a 1932 German crime film directed by Alfred Zeisler and starring Ery Bos, Genia Nikolaieva and Karl Ludwig Diehl. It was based on the play ''The Woman and the Emerald'' by Harry Jenkins and recounts a jewel theft.Youngkin p.72-73 It was shot at the Babelsberg Studios with sets designed by the art directors Willi Herrmann and Herbert O. Phillips. A separate French-language version ''Coup de feu à l'aube'' was also produced. Kurt Vespermann (1 May 1887 – 13 July 1957) was a German stage and film actor. Career Vespermann was born into an actor's family in Culmsee, West Prussia, Imperial Germany today Chełmża, Poland. Already his great-grandparents were actors and directors at different operas and theatres. Peter Lorre (; born László Löwenstein, ; June 26, 1904 – March 23, 1964) was a Hungarian and American actor, first in Europe and later in the United States. He began his stage career in Vienna, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, before moving to Germany where he worked first on the stage, then in film in Berlin in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Genia Nikolajewa (1904–2001) was a Russian-born German actress who made films in several countries, notably in Germany where she appeared in films such as Robert Siodmak's 1932 comedy ''Quick (1932 film), Quick''Alpi p.345 in a succession of supporting or minor roles. She later moved to Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood. She was sometimes credited as ''Genia Nikolaieva'' or ''Eugenia Nikolajewa''. Life Nikolaieva was born in St Petersburg to German-Russian parents, but moved to Germany at an early age.
