''A Question of Honor'' is a 1922 American drama film directed by Edwin Carewe and written by Josephine Quirk. The film stars Anita Stewart, Guy Edward Hearn, Arthur Stuart Hull, Walt Whitman, Bert Sprotte, and Frank Beal. The film was released on March 11, 1922, by Associated First National Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine, Anne Wilmot (Stewart) and her aunt Katherine (Farrington) leave Fifth Avenue to go to Arizona and spend a month at her fiance Leon Morse's (Hull) lodge in the mountains near an immense hydroelectric engineering project. Leon is determined to obtain a right-of-way across the site occupied by the dam for his railroad, but Bill Shannon (Hearn), the builder, has other views about it. Anne meets Bill when he rescues her from a perilous position on a rock endangered by the rising waters of a stream. Sheb (Whitman), his right hand man, warns Bill against all women, but he gives Anne some food when she pleads hunger and then makes her wash the dishes. ... Edwin Carewe
Edwin Carewe (March 3, 1883 – January 22, 1940) was an American motion picture director, actor, producer, and screenwriter. His birth name was Jay John Fox; he was born in Gainesville, Texas. Career After brief studies at the Universities of Texas and Missouri and a period of work with regional theatrical groups, Carewe moved to New York City in 1910, where he became a member of the Dearborn Stock Company. Although Jay Fox was his given name, Carewe chose Edwin (from stage actor Edwin Booth) and Carewe from a character he was playing. Carewe was on stage as an actor before he worked for Lubin studios. Later, he directed films for MGM, First National Pictures, First National, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and United Artists. During his career, he provided early screen exposure to many actors such as Dolores del Río, Warner Baxter, Francis X. Bushman and Gary Cooper. Walt Whitman (actor)
Walter K. Whitman (April 25, 1859 – March 27, 1928) was an American character actor of the stage and screen who was active during Hollywood's silent era. He is not to be confused with the influential poet of the same name. Biography Whitman had a long career on the stage in cities like New York, Boston, and Chicago before he began appearing in Triangle films in the 1910s, at which point he was already an older man. He died on March 27, 1928, in Santa Monica, California. "I was only a country lad, but I had seen so many real good shows at our local opera house that I made up my mind I would be an actor," he'd later tell reporters of his beginnings. He also recounted that in 1896, he leapt from the fifth floor of the Hotel Richelieu in Montreal when it caught on fire. Adele Farrington (1867 – 19 December 1936) was an American actress of the silent film era. Biography Born Anna King in Brooklyn, New York, Farrington was a stage actress before appearing in 74 films between 1914 and 1926. She was a relatively old actress for the silent film era, being 47 at the beginning of her film career. She appeared in many films directed by Lois Weber and Phillips Smalley. Her husband was film director and actor Hobart Bosworth, in whose films she also often appeared. They divorced and Bosworth remarried to a younger woman and had a small child by 1920. She died in Los Angeles, California. Fifth Avenue is a major and prominent thoroughfare in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It stretches north from Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village to West 143rd Street in Harlem. It is one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. Fifth Avenue carries two-way traffic from 142nd to 135th Street and carries one-way traffic southbound for the remainder of its route. The entire street used to carry two-way traffic until 1966. From 124th to 120th Street, Fifth Avenue is cut off by Marcus Garvey Park, with southbound traffic diverted around the park via Mount Morris Park West.
