''A Queer History of the United States'' is a concise history of LGBT people in US society. It describes ways in which queer people have influenced the evolution of the United States, and how the culture of the United States has affected them. ''A Queer History of the United States'' was published by Beacon Press in 2011. It was recognized with a Stonewall Book Award in 2012. The author, Michael Bronski, is a professor of Women's & Gender Studies at Dartmouth College, and professor of Practice in Media and Activism in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Harvard University. Michael Bronski
Michael Bronski (born May 12, 1949) is an American academic and writer, best known for his 2011 book ''A Queer History of the United States''. He has been involved with LGBT politics since 1969 as an activist and organizer. He has won numerous awards for LGBTQ activism and scholarship, including the prestigious Publishing Triangle's Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement. Bronski is a Professor of Practice in Media and Activism at Harvard University. ''Transgender History'' is a non-fiction book by professor Susan Stryker that provides a concise history of transgender people in the United States from the middle of the 19th century to the 2000s. The book was published in 2008 by Seal Press, with a revised edition released in 2017. Content The book is split up into five chapters, most of which deal with a particular period of history. The History Teacher
''The History Teacher'' is a quarterly academic journal concerned with the teaching of history in schools, colleges, and universities. It began in 1940 at the History Department at the University of Notre Dame as the ''Quarterly Bulletin of the Teachers' History Club''. Nuns attending the graduate history program in the summer edited and mimeographed the bulletin. Each issue ran 20-50 pages, with informal teaching tips, evaluations of textbooks, and short thematic essays by Notre Dame professors. Its 110 subscribers were mostly teachers at Catholic high schools in the Midwest.
