''A Perfect Couple'' ( es, Una pareja perfecta, links=no) is a 1998 Spanish comedy film directed by Francesc Betriu from a screenplay by Rafael Azcona based on the novel ''Diario de un jubilado'' by Miguel Delibes which stars Antonio Resines and José Sazatornil "Saza". The film proved to be a critical failure and a commercial flop. Plot The plot tracks the friendship between a pedantic homosexual poet and an unemployed typographer. Cast Production Written by Rafael Azcona, the screenplay is an adaptation of the 1995 novel ''Diario de un jubilado'' by Miguel Delibes. The film is a Lolafilms, Cartel, and Vía Digital production. Release The film opened the 1st Málaga Film Festival in May 1998. Distributed by Columbia Tri-Star Films de España, it was released theatrically in Spain on 12 June 1998. Francesc Betriu
Francesc Betriu was a Catalan filmmaker. He was born in the town of Organyà, Lleida in 1940. ''Corazón solitario'' marked his feature film debut in 1973, a film that is now rarely seen. This was followed by films such as ''Furia española'' (1974) and ''Los fieles sirvientes'' (1980). One of his best-known works is ''La plaça del Diamant'' (1982), an adaptation of a novel by Mercè Rodoreda. He then adapted Ramón J. Sender's novel ''Réquiem por un campesino español (1985)'' (nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival) and Raul Nunez's novel ''Sinatra'' (1988) for the screen. He also brought Juan Marsé Juan Marsé Carbó (8 January 1933 – 18 July 2020) was a Spanish novelist, journalist, and screenwriter who used Spanish as his literary language. Málaga Film Festival
The Málaga Film Festival, formerly Málaga Spanish Film Festival (FMCE), is an annual film festival held in Málaga, Spain. The festival was established to promote Spanish cinema and help disseminate information about Spanish films. Since 2017, it features an additional focus on Ibero-American films. History The first edition ran from 29 May to 6 June 1998. The guest of honor was Fernando Fernán Gómez, and the retrospective was dedicated to Montxo Armendariz.
