A Man And His Dog
''A Man and His Dog'' (''Un Homme et Son Chien'') is a 2008 French film directed by French director Francis Huster, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, based on the 1952 film ''Umberto D.'' directed by Vittorio De Sica, and written by Cesare Zavattini. This was the first film in seven years featuring Jean-Paul Belmondo following his recovery from a stroke, and final movie role before his death in 2021. Plot Charles is a retiree who lives in a maid's room in the house of his lover, a rich widow. He is forced out onto the street with his dog after the widow breaks off the relationship, as she decides to marry again. With no home nor way to make money, they wander the streets of Paris. Francis Huster (born 8 December 1947) is a French stage, film and television actor, director and scriptwriter. Biography Francis Huster was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine. His father is Charles Huster, commercial director at Lancia, and his Polish Jewish mother is Suzette Cwajbaum—who, during the Nazi era succeeded in persuading the Gestapo commandant in Paris to release her father, who had been arrested. However, her father refused to leave Paris, and was shot dead by the SS in Auschwitz as Soviet troops approached at the end of the war. He has two siblings; his older brother Jean-Pierre is a noted writer, and his younger sister, Muriel, is an actress, photographer and songwriter. Pierre Cassignard (19 December 1965 – 20 December 2021) was a French stage and screen actor. Early life Pierre Cassignard was born in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande in Grionde, France, on 19 December 1965.
