''A Gentleman of Leisure'' is a novel by P. G. Wodehouse. The basic plot first appeared in a novella, ''The Gem Collector'', in the December 1909 issue of ''Ainslee's Magazine''. It was substantially revised and expanded for publication as a book under the title ''The Intrusion of Jimmy'' by W. J. Watt and Co., New York, on 11 May 1910.McIlvaine 1990, p. 21 It was serialised as ''The Intrusions of Jimmy'' in the British weekly magazine ''Tit-Bits'' between 11 June and 10 September before being published as ''A Gentleman of Leisure'' by Alston Rivers Ltd, London, on 15 November 1910. There are minor textual differences between the American and British editions of the book. ''A Gentleman of Leisure'' was adapted for the stage in 1911 and has twice been filmed, in 1915 and 1923. Alice Brady
Alice Brady (born Mary Rose Brady; November 2, 1892 – October 28, 1939) was an American actress who began her career in the silent film era and survived the transition into talkies. She worked until six months before her death from cancer in 1939. Her films include ''My Man Godfrey'' (1936), in which she plays the flighty mother of Carole Lombard's character, and ''In Old Chicago'' (1937) for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1960, Brady received a motion pictures star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the film industry. Her star is located at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard. Jack Holt (actor)
Charles John Holt, Jr. (May 31, 1888 – January 18, 1951) was an American motion picture actor who was prominent in both silent and sound movies, particularly Westerns. Early life Holt was born in 1888 in the Fordham section of The Bronx, New York, the son of an Episcopal priest at St. James Church. When in Manhattan, he attended Trinity School. He was accepted into the Virginia Military Institute in 1909, but expelled for misbehavior in his second semester there. Following Holt's father's death, the family moved to New York City, where Jack, his mother, and brother Marshall lived with his married sister, Frances. Holt worked at various jobs including construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad's tunnel under the Hudson River and being a "surveyor, laborer, prospector, trapper, and stagecoach driver, among many other jobs" during an almost six-year stay in Alaska. Joseph Henabery (January 15, 1888 – February 18, 1976) of Omaha, Nebraska, was a film actor, screenplay writer, and director in the United States. He is best known for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in D.W. Griffith's controversial 1915 silent historical epic ''The Birth of a Nation''. Early years Henabery was born in Omaha and raised in Los Angeles. He began acting as an amateur in California.
