Sky Architect
Sky Architect is a progressive rock band based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Their debut album, ''Excavations of the Mind'', was released in 2010 from ProgRock Records. The drummer and backing vocalist, Christiaan Bruin, is also known for his solo project "Chris". They are currently signed to FREIA Music. Biography Sky Architect was formed in 2006 by three young men studying at a pop academy in Rotterdam, Netherlands: Wabe Wieringa (guitar), Rik van Honk (electric keyboard, keyboards) and Christiaan Bruin (drums). These three men laid the foundation of Sky Architect, forming an instrumental power trio of sorts. While studying, the three met Tom Luchies (vocals and guitar) and Guus van Mierlo (bass guitar), who completed the final Sky Architect lineup. Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and jazz improvisation, improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Others use elaborate chord progressions, unconventional time signatures, or melodies with counter-melodies. Galileo Records
Galileo Records is a GmbH Switzerland-based record label that publishes progressive rock and metal albums. The label was formed in 1998 by Konny Eisenring, and Patrick Becker. Konny left Galileo after two years. Background Konny Eisenring and Patrick Becker got the idea of starting a label after seeing the band Xang perform in a French festival. The two contacted the band, who said they did not have a label. Eisenring and Becker decided to sign the band, and Xang's '' Destiny of a Dream'' became Galileo Record's first album. After Galileo's second artist, Metaphor, was signed, Eisenring left the company. Becker then took full control over the company. ''Excavations of the Mind'' is the debut album by Dutch progressive rock band Sky Architect. It is a concept album about the mentally insane. The first four tracks are parts of a 19-minute suite Deep Chasm. The album cover artist, Mark Wilkinson, is well known for his work with Fish, Marillion, Judas Priest, and sometimes Iron Maiden.
