''A Beautiful Friendship'' is a 2011 young adult science fiction novel by American author David Weber. Set in the fictional Honorverse, the book serves as a prequel to the main Honor Harrington series, which takes place hundreds of years later in the fictional timeline. It features Stephanie Harrington, an ancestor of the main character Honor Harrington who has been mentioned a number of times. The book is in fact based on a short story of the same name first published in 1998 as part of the anthology ''More Than Honor''. Brian Lemon
Brian Lemon (11 February 1937 – 11 October 2014) was a British jazz pianist and arranger. Biography Lemon was born in Nottingham, England. After leaving school in the 1950s, he began playing professionally at Nottingham's Palais de Danse and other local venues. He moved to London, aged 19, in 1956 to join Freddy Randall's group. After that he worked with George Chisholm, Kenny Baker and Sandy Brown. Over the years, he also worked with Benny Goodman, Charlie Watts, Scott Hamilton, Buddy Tate, Milt Jackson, Ben Webster, and Digby Fairweather. From 1961 to 1963, he led his own trio at the comedian Peter Cook’s club, The Establishment, in Soho, London. He led an octet which played songs by Billy Strayhorn. Lemon worked as a regular session musician with many groups which were recorded at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios in London for broadcast on Sunday night's BBC Radio 1's ''Sounds of Jazz'' introduced by Peter Clayton in the early 1970s. Lenore Raphael
Lenore Raphael (born Lenore Hyams; June 1, 1942) is an American jazz pianist and educator influenced by Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and George Shearing. Early life Raphael was born in New York City. She studied classical music at the High School of Music & Art in Manhattan, going on to New York University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. As a teenage prodigy, she performed in a classical concert at Carnegie Hall. She gave up a career as a music teacher and switched to playing jazz professionally after hearing Oscar Peterson in concert. She studied jazz piano under Barry Harris and Mike Longo. Later life and career Raphael has performed with Lionel Hampton, Ken Peplowski, Illinois Jacquet and Clark Terry . A composer as well as performer, her tribute tune to Oscar Peterson following his death ("Blues for OP") premièred at a memorial concert for Peterson at the International Association for Jazz Convention in Toronto, Ontario. Rebecca Parris
Rebecca Parris (December 28, 1951 – June 17, 2018) was an American jazz singer. During her career she appeared with Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Wynton Marsalis, Gary Burton, and Dizzy Gillespie. She performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazzfestival, Oslo Jazz Festival, and the International Floating Jazz Festival. She won the Boston Music Awards nine times. Critical reception "I hear a little Carmen McRae when I listen to Rebecca", said Ron DellaChiesa, the jazz disk jockey at WGBH (FM), WGBH in Boston. "And a little Sarah Vaughan. I think she's on that level". "Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae were my friends while they were alive, and it was a huge blessing to know them," said Parris. Ella Fitzgerald Discography
Between 1935 and 1955, American singer Ella Fitzgerald was signed to Decca Records. Her early recordings as a featured vocalist were frequently uncredited. Her first credited single was 78 RPM recording "I'll Chase the Blues Away" with the Chick Webb Orchestra. Fitzgerald continued recording with Webb until his death in 1939, after which the group was renamed ''Ella Fitzgerald and Her Famous Orchestra''. With the introduction of 10" and 12" Long-Playing records in the late 1940s, Decca released several original albums of Fitzgerald's music and reissued many of her previous single-only releases. From 1935 to the late 1940s Decca issued Ella Fitzgerald's recordings on 78rpm singles and album collections, in book form, of four singles that included eight tracks. These recordings have been re-issued on a series of 15 compact disc by the French record label Classics Records between 1992 and 2008.
